Not gone down how I had hoped. And its raining in Angla.

Looks like its Shaws year again.

What the hell happened to Hall in the frame???Unhappy

Shaw is in the driving seat, and unlikely to mess up now. He is a class act and ultimate professional.

The word is that Ed has picked up some kind of hand injury, fingers dislocation/damage.

I like Eddie but I really worry for his health and I don't mean years down the line, I mean in the next five to ten years. His heart must be the size of a football at the moment!

I have to admit, I share your concerns.

I know we are on uk forum. How many of the main comps has Ed won? Wsm, Europe's and Arnolds?

He has dominated the Uk and deadlift, but is miles off Arnold's and Wsm.

If he drops weight, Then Shaw and Thor will surpass his static events.

I'm not a hater, but a peak Terry was a better All around Strongman.

People talk like ed is way off the mark and not an elite strongman. He is coming fourth in the world. Not bad in my book

I disagree. Terry's best finish was third in a weaker field than now. Ed is above that level but the bench mark is now higher. I don't think terry is any weaker now than he has been, but the competition tougher

The crazy thing is it feels like Ed is quite far away at the minute from winning WSM, however you take 3 guys out and he dominates. (Z, Thor, Shaw).

I can't see all those guys stopping anytime in the next 3 years though by which time I don't see Ed competing at his current strength/weight.

Also sports generally evolve and better athletes come through but I'm not so sure with strongman in the next 5-10 years.
Where is the next Thor/Shaw coming from?

Once they have retired are we going to see a quiet era or will there be some new even bigger monsters on the scene!

He isn't as good after a year out. He also had peak Shaw and Z. Don't forget Lalas.

Also early years pudz and Poundstone. This year isn't any better than when Terry was in his pomp.

It's only my opinion but Terry was better.

Unfortunately, as I've said from the off, Eddie simply cannot compete with Z, Shaw and Thor and now, there looks like to be a few others that can be entered into that fray!

Eddie is massively powerful, we all know that, but IMO he simply hasn't got the fitness nor comp-longevity in him to stay with the main field!

It would be fantastic if he won and brought the title back to the UK; it'd be bloody superb for him to podium this year... But alas, I fear that he won't and until he drops some of his unnecessary mass and gains some decent fitness back, he'll always be like Terry is/was... Does great, but never good enough! Unhappy

Anyway I'm very much looking forward to the final day tomorrow.
Obviously I want Ed to win but can't see past a Shaw/Thor win if I have to be realistic.

It would be amazing if Ed did win it. Surely no one has ever come last in the first event then clawed in back, certainly not in the modern era. 1 point in an event usually means no chance of winning, but Ed isn't that far away. Shame he tied for those first places.

Im pretty sure i read on eddies facebook that he as regular blood work done and health checks. Im no doctor but surely any health defects including heart ones would be picked up on them. He just seems like he gases out like pople do. Some people are generally fitter then others. I for one hope hes not pushing towards an heart attact as he has a family. Good luck to eddie in the final few events he doing it for britain.

Think I saw on the BBC news that he was he is as you say checked out regularly and cv wise it was said he was like an athlete should be,he did look dodgy after his record but that's hardly surprising, anyway he has said himself "I can't stay at this weight i'll die" so I think he will in the next year or two concentrate on trimming down to win wsm.
