But a few of those guys could have come between the likes of hall and Shaw in certain events and changed the way the top pans out?

Some may have beaten Hall on events for sure, meaning he finishes lower. He isn't a challenge for the win by miles regardless.

I'll be honest here I'm not a Z fan the way he kept bumping records up by a kilo or even half a kilo at a time rather than having the balls to do what Ed did and go all out set a proper world record to show the world what you can do in your prime, something that would last for a long, long time annoyed me...certain people like to go on about Shaw being beta well isn't that the same, if you have allegedly done 240 for 2 put a proper world record up, but because he preferred to have his ego stroked time and time again it is unlikely we will ever see what he was truly capable of sadly given the injuries that are mounting up and his advancing years, meaning that we will likely have a new word record holder in the not too distant future but there will always be that doubt wether or not it was truly the heaviest log ever lifted unlike Ed's monumental lift...there can be no argument there, it is by far the heaviest weight lifted off the floor on a conventional bar, no one can claim to have even got close to that weight in training!
That being said why are so many on here so quick to dismiss the possibility that the world record holder in pretty much every overhead strongman discipline could have done 240 for 2 in training, not so long ago alot of people were beginning to mock our very own Hix saying he was using fake weights etcetera until he shut them all up at the World Log Lift Championship with a new British record and tying with both Z and Ed for the heaviest log lifted that year. But prior to that there were a lot of comments about only being able to do it in training etcetera and there wasn't a person here that wouldn't have stood up to defend the guy saying given his day truly great things will happen for him, so why is it we doubt Z's claim so much? Lets be honest 240kg is a ridiculous amount but it would have been done in his own gym at his own pace where he is the most comfortable, not with comp nerves, under usually less than ideal conditions...they do have a tendency to hold these things in kinda hot humid environments and where his training hasn't focused on just one event but winning the competition. At home when he's not focussing on winning a competition and free to train whatever he wants who's to say one day he didn't hit 240 x 2 it's not like he could only have one go at it either like in a comp, some times especially at a max you just don't hit it right, and you can pretty much guarantee that it isn't going to go up on a second attempt a few seconds later but given 10 minutes or more to recover if everything does just click right for him why couldn't it go up, it is after all not too far removed from what he's done on a log being only 5-6% above his max competition log

Someone with an ego as big as Z would have posted the video, not just shown it to his mate Wildaeur. The arguments put forward to prove he could do it are weak -a 208kg axle double is not a 240 barbell double. Z has never posted a huge bench, or ridiculous incline presses like Hall. There is no evidence he has ever put 240 over his head, standing, on a barbell, strict. There is evidence Hall could do that with some specific training.

Personally I'd love to see Ed smash it and put this whole myth about Z being the strongest man who ever lived to bed so we can go back to having actual strongman competitions rather than catering events to suit him especially at Arnold's but on an overhead I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and say it might have been possible for him at his prime under perfect conditions

You sound pathetic. Do you really think a man who has been competing for over 20 years and who has won everything going would lie about his lifts. The man has no reason to lie and exaggerate his lifts as he's got nothing to prove. Wildaeur has also seen the lift too and has confirmed it. He wouldn't lie. Z has only just started using social media recently so that's probably why he didn't post it online.

You sound like a Z cannot, but that's just my opinion. You have never been around an elite athlete if you think they don't have egos bigger than their drug intake.

I think Felixs group is about the toughest to call. Arsjo seems a shoe in after his display at europes, but 2nd place should be a real battle. Felix could drop points on the squat, and he doesnt excel on fingals, but he is a solid DB presser (not belsak good, but he could beat the rest of the field) and the other events should suit him.

It was the dumbell that I was thinking would clinch it for belsak as I'd be very shocked if he didn't win that event with arsjo in second. Otherwise I think they are relatively evenly matched. Still wouldn't be a massive shock for Felix to qualify.

Groups 1 and 2 seem to be the only ones that don't have two obvious favourites who are all but guaranteed to make the final. Hollands and shahlei in particular have pretty straightforward groups, hopefully that means they can conserve some energy and be fresher for the final.

4th place in loading for Eddie

IMO that probably means he's not fit enough to challenge for the win then.
