Hi lads, looking to add more to my training my training twice a day (somedays, where time and work allows). I work 4 12hr shifts, then get 6 days off, so for 4 of them 6 days off, id like to train twice. (why not eh?)

I understand ill need to build up to that, and also take good care of my sleep, food intake etc.

How should i go about training twice a day? Any ideas?

I train for weightlifting by the way.

when i was doing it, it was technical stuff session one (snatch variation of some kind and a clean or jerk variation of some kind) then strength stuff session two

so for example

sesh 1
hang snatch upto 80% for 3 sets of 3
power clean 3 singles on 90%
push press 5 doubles on 85%

sesh 2
snatch pulls to knee hold 3 seconds x 3 for 5 sets on 110% of best snatch
backsquat 80% 5 sets of 3

that's just an example of how i worked mine, i'm no Ilin so i'd predict there are better ways.

Thanks Shaun, you may not be Ilin, but you are Britians best junior lifter Cool

Did you find it beneficial? How hard were you pushing yourself? I know the %'s kind of tell you how hard, but did you feel good about it?

I always think its the best plan to just keep the volume the same but spread it over the two sessions. Improves recovery an quality then when you're really adapted to 2 a days you'd add in more work.

Aren't you improving fast enough already mate? You don't seem to be struggling on one a day!

I usually have 2 sessions a day, the first is for my main heavy work and the second is for assistance lifts. It helps me boost my volume without have to do a monster session all in one go. Also you get a little recovery between the two sessions so can give more in the second session.

That's true. But. 6 days off leaves me with not a great deal to do. So if I can add more to my training ill be happier and feel productive. Yeah I know more isn't always better. But I wanna do it sensibly. Plus sometimes on evenings after work I won't be able to train at my new place.

if you have 6 days off I would start by training twice a day on mon wed fridays once on tues and thursday

I would do sn and cj sq on tue and thursday

squat, pulls press variation and power sn power cj on doulble session, then maybe later on double session you could slowly bring in full squat snatch and cj on different days

maybe squat once every day to begin then build up to front squat in morning and back squat evenings on 2 double sessions if you can handle it

awesome feedback cheers, i just realised due to summer holidays ill have 4 days off now, so ill aim to train twice, on 2 of them days. This shouldnt stress me too much if i keep my recovery and nutrition correct.
