I've got a suited deadlift in my next comp- I've got a titan centurian squat suit- can you deadlift in these? If so, how do you get to the bar, is there a nack to it? I know nothing about this jazz...

Wide stance suits help with sumo deadlifts. If it's too hard to get down, lean to one side to get a grip, then pull yourself down to get the other hand on the bar. Try a session in it, see how you get on.

I have tried deadlifting in my centurion squat suit and found it more of a hindrance than a help, you might find it different I suppose. Found it was ok for sumo but that's not really an option with the frame.

I'd offer you a shot of my suit on the day but it's quite baggy on me so it would probably be useless to you, Dunno if Buzz is still selling his own brand suits but I really like my one and reckon it gives me at least 30-40kg.

I find this too. I can deadlift more raw than in a squat suit. The fatter gentlemen generally have trouble breathing in a suit

I used to use mine all the time and found it really helped with initial pull off the floor, however,.I've soon caught up though and find it more of a hindrance now. The tip to getting to the bar is to take a deep breath and bend down as far as you can, get hold of the bar and pull yourself down into position.

To be fair I've never used a specific DL suit, I'd like to at some point.

Its a beast for pulling from 18inch and 13inch but from floor feels like your heads and lungs are gunna explode just sitting back to pull

You may find it easier if the straps are loose when your stood up and will tighten as you sit down into position giving you a nice bit of pop off the floor without taking you for a ride aand destroying your form

Also to get to the bar set your feet grip the bar in the centre with one hand pull your sled down set the other hand now hold tight with that and place the hand that was in the centre out to the position it needs to be in

I think I saw a video of skip doing this on here ?

Thanks all- i'll give it a go on Sunday. I'm sure i'd read somewhere it works better backwards for deads? It's a size 40 and I'm sitting around 93kg so it's very tight....

Benvie, I've got a suit from buzz but it's too big for me just now, don't get anything out of it.

Suppose I'll just have a crack at it and see what happens.

I deadlift in a size 40 centurion (at 105bw)

I find it very hard to get to the bar, I tend to push my knees out as i'm coming down then bring them back in once I'm, at the bar also when its really tight a lil bit of forcing your way down helps... this is how i do it when its very tight!

I find that the suit will cause set up issues when very tight till you get in the groove with it, with me it forces me to round my back a bit

great pop off the floor though, I used to deadlift in an inzer hardcore and much prefer the centurion

imo the centurion works a bit better with a high hip position rather then sitting deep into it
