I remember at some point seeing people say, i thought big Z had the record at 550kg and they where right, but its just a different set up and different record

Avatar Member 5517, 1538 posts SQ 160, BP 165, DL 201526.0 kgs @ 110kgs UnEq | For me as long as the bar setup is standard 9" from the ground (and not a weird sumo pull) its a deadlift. The last record on a standard power bar was Kevin Nee's 410kg. Shaw and Z where on the Ironmind S cube bar and “barrels”. Magnussons 461 and Eddie set the 462-465kg world record where with a deadlift bar. Its longer so the weight leaves the ground incrementally to the top vs a standard power(lifting) bar. This decreases the range of motion. Elephant Bar is just longer again. Eddies 500kg is on a deadlift bar with a suit. No suits allowed in Arnolds and half the powerlifting feds. The figure 8 straps let him hold the bar 1" lower than a closed hand grip. Its still a deadlift record for 99% of people. I heard Rogue have offered 50k for anyone who breaks 501kg on their Elephant Bar. Be interesting to see an EU of Chinese bar maker offer a prize for a unsuited power or olympic record.

And as detailed on his Instagram post, it's the first event, on a 'standard' deadlift bar with figure 8 straps and suits allowed. In other words, the exact same conditions and setup as Eddie's 500kg...

He pulls 501 easily and goes on to complete the rest of the comp
