Went to a new gym in Sandbach, Cheshire today, The Strength Academy. A really nice facility with everything you could want; logs, yoke, farmers, stones and loading wall, tyres, as well as other things. Run by Popeye and helped by Liam (thanks for today mate, your help was appreciated), I would recommend a visit.

Anyway, I digress...

Yoke and Farmers medley

230kg yoke (downhill - felt s**t) 15m

Side handled car deadlift

used ascending weight, not sure where it finished but heavy, Liam said around 300, but it wouldn't have been that much, I'd have guess I pulled 240/250 and missed around 260

Viking press
a total of about 5 reps

Hammer and db side hold

good stuff, i was told the weight of the car empty was 230 kg lol felt about 160-180 to me. Its very good, Popeye is very keen to help people and cant do enough. Have to agree on the down hill end of the car park.. very awkward, actually felt easier uphill to me. May train on Sunday, but wish you were available to Saturday Unhappy

From that height yes, a pb Ed. Felt strong and hopefully means that the 220 will go. I might do one more session of pulls on Mon, a few singles.

comp day atmosphere no way 220k wont go. if you need help with straps ,holding nose talk , motivational talking and slaps i'm happy to be your deadlift buddy.Grin

Cheers Ed, I'll bare that in mind for slap duty (Mitch is giving me a lift and one of the stipulations was he got to hit me, that and the blowy).

90kg x 1 belt =pb

All with wrist wraps. Left it at 90 for a few reasons, slight back niggle being one, plus it was an equal pb ( a pb from the rack) and it wasn't exceptional timing and didn't feel like absolute max. I therefore reason I will go into the comp confident, rather than having failed a rep. May do one more overhead session for a bit of leg speed on Mon.

Last little pressing session, up to 70kg x 2 push press. Elbows and shoulders ache and not in a good way, so will ibuprofen on the day. Deads tomorrow then done.
