Blimy, 195 kg? I could get that from my deadlift and squat alone. Hmm, but still unlikely to stand up on stage in a lycra suit i'm afraid, it makes me sick just thinking about it!

Uhoh...always a bit scary when internet life mixes with real life Eek Tongue Did you train with Phil?

I went up to cosgroves, but I don't think the guy I saw is a fair representation of the standard of their treatment. They seem to do wonders on Rob!

Sunday was rest day in the end. Had to get to the G-Camp interclub fights in trafford.

Monday - Another early start in the gym. I just can't get enough calories in prior to the morning workouts.
squats: warm ups with 20, 30, 40, 50kg then 5x5 with 60 kg. 5x5 training is going well on squats. They were good when I got the form right. Weight was easy.

Close grip bench: 20 kg and 30 kg warm ups
35 kg: 5
37.5 kg: 4, 3
Need to sort a new bench routine pretty quick

Wide grip pull ups: 3, 3 (pleased with these, they were great)
Narrow grip: 3, 3

Abs.....then had to rush back to work.

Got thai boxing tonight at Trafford Grin

I worked for him in his gym for over 2 years which gave me allot of experience. Got on with him real well, nocked me sick when he would lubricate his tackle piercing tho lol. How do you find him as an instructor?

Well, i'm happy to say I have never seen him lubricate his tackle piercing LOL. I can imagine he would be a pretty good guy to work with.

I really like him as an instructor when his heart is in it and he really wants to be there. Then he is excellent and really observant about where people are going wrong etc. Very encourgaging too. The classes are also good because all the guys that go are pretty chilled and good to work with. But he doesn't always seem like he wants to be there, I guess when turnout is low etc. TBH I have missed the last couple of classes due to injury and work commitments, so I am not sure how they have been lately.

Tonight - G-Camp

All padwork tonight - guess everyone is recovering after the show on sunday. Kicks and elbows were pretty good tonight, I was pleased with how well everything went, considering the lack of sleep and training this morning Happy

Tuesday - Yet another rest day, long day on site in gloucester. Well, guess it wasn't really much of a rest day as I found myself on the end of a shovel backfililng trial pits Confused I'm not sure I got the site supervisors role quite right yet Tongue

Wednesday - Deadlift day - Week 3 of olly's program.

10 mins CV - warmup. Needed this to loosen up, I was still really sore from squatting monday.

50 kg: 5,unbelted
80 kg: 3 unbelted
90 kg: 2 unbelted
100 kg: 1
106 kg: 2, 2, 2, 2, 2 - pleased with these, the last set was actually the easiest because I got in a better starting position. This is the first time I have doubled anything over 105 kg (not really a fan of doubles).

Platforms:

50 kg: 5
70 kg: 3
80 kg: 3
100 kg: 1
105 kg: 1, 1 - failed a third rep, couldn't even get it off the ground LOL. Platform PB (mainly coz I haven't really worked them that much before)

Vertical grip chins on crap chin bars: 3, 3

Hyperextensions
No plate: 10
10 kg: 10

20 mins CV on cross-trainer

Abs - littlebigs into 45 degree sit up - 9kg: 10, 10, 10

Lots stretching

Good session Grin

M15 Muay Thai today

Great class - lots of elbows, clinchwork and front kicks, the three things i'm best at Grin The powerlifting really comes into play in the clinch, my strength is invaluable for throwing people around and keeping the inside grip. Hooks were better than usual today too....although I am still catching them wrong and hurting my wrist more often than I would like. I'm going to have to get wraps.

I had this problem, mainly with uppercuts though, wraps do help a lot.

Friday

Since I woke up I have had the terrible feeling of whiplash in my neck Eek I'm not joking! We did some neck exercises yesterday in M15 Muay Thai and I am really paying for it now. I always thought my neck was strong.....how wrong can you be!

G-Camp at 5pm. Not a great class, I was too tired and sore to make the most of it. Normally I do 5 days training before I start feeling a bit overtrained. Guess I must have really really worked wednesday and thursday.

Gym after G-Camp
Push pressing - was planning a heavy session, but my shoulders were too tired from yesterday, so just did some light stuff with 30 kg and a double with 35 kg

Lots of squat formwork

Wide grip pulls: 4, 3, 3, 3, 2 - glad I can still churn these out even on a day like this!

I shall be having tommorow off!

Saturday - Rest day. Feeling pretty run down and tired.

Sunday Squat Day - felt pretty rough and nearly bottled out of going to the gym completely. But managed to make it and get through the workout pretty sucessfully. Getting through workouts on days like this are the ones that really matter, it's so easy to train when everything is going well!

10 mins CV warm-up

Squats, 20 kg and 30 kg warm ups
40 kg 3
50 kg 3
60 kg 1
62.5 kg 5 x 5 - My first set was a bit high, but the second, third and fifth sets were all good. The fourth set was pretty all over the place, but got the work done, so pleased.

Bench new routine. I'm going to do the same as the last one, but up all the weights by 2.5kg. Should work out well, should be able to get 47.5 kg at the end.
Today warm-ups with 20, 30 and 35 kg then
37.5 kg: 5 x 5 - about bloody time!!!! Finally got 5x5 on these, it was easy.

Tried to push press and do chins, but my tendons were too painful to do either.

Front squats - i'm a bit wary of hurting my knee again with these so have been avoiding them recently.
30 kg: 3, 3
40 kg: 3, 3, 3

Abs

30 mins CV on cross-trainer.

That is good benching.

I'm morally certain I saw you chinning on Friday, while you were hanging around waiting for me to get my arse in gear and pull something heavy.

Thanks Happy Yeah, it seems to be going well right now Happy

Today - G-Camp at trafford. Bloody hell was this a grind today. Managed to drag myself through the class but was truely awful! Billy had made some flapjack thingies which I thought would be a great pre-workout food (trek bars usually do the trick) - but they just sat like a lead weight in my stomach until I nearly threw them back up after some horrendous 15 right body kick, 15 left body kick combo thing we were doing. Could have been messy. Very. Note to self - don't try new foods 30 mins before a class!

Mike still asked if I wanted to grade in April though, so that will be something to work towards Happy

Tuesday - Rest Day - had a proper day off pootling around Derby.

Wednesday - Felt sooo much better this morning, back to normal form Happy

Deadlift day

10 mins warm-up on cross-trainer

Deadlifts - speed week. These were much easier than last week, that's for sure. Although 'speed' wasn't really a factor Roll-Eyes - Lost my form a bit again, although it is not as bad as it was, i'm going to have to concentrate on it.

60 kg: 5 80 kg: 3, 90 kg: 1 100 kg: 1
106 kg: 1, 1, 1, 1, 1

Then did rack lockouts with just the step in the rack:
70 kg: 4
100 kg: 3
120 kg: 1
140 kg: 1 (PB) - this was really easy, so thought i'd lower the bar a bit (i.e. add another two plates under my feet) and do a bigger range of motion with it. But it didn't budge LOL. Actually I dropped the weight back to 110 kg and did a couple of singles with it from this height, and they felt hard. Last week I did the lockouts after the pulls, I should have this week as well. Nevermind, live and learn.

Chins - Neutral grip 5, 5, 5, 5, 4.5! Damn, can't believe I missed the last rep to finally get 5x5 with these. As soon as I do, i'm going to add weight (ok, probably just a 1.25 kg plate in my pocket to start Tongue )

Tricep extensions (shoulder tendons still too sore to do any other pressing today. Hopefully they will be ok for friday, as I have a big push press session planned) - lots and lots of reps

20 mins cycling for knee rehab.

Overall satisfactory session Grin
