The events have now been changed for the qualifier i.e. no 280 dead for reps (now barrel deads) or 120kg clean and press (now press medley). At least you've got some solid training in.

Those are the events people wanted to see for it, here are the event lists for both the qualifier in Feb and the final in May:

SCOTLAND’S STRONGEST MAN 2008 promoter Lewis McLean

QUALIFIER-SATURDAY FEBRUARY 9TH

VENUE-LORBURN HALL,TOWN CENTRE,DUMFRIES START TIME 12.00 ATHLETES ARRIVE AT 10.00

The qualifier for Scotland’s strongest man is open to anyone who is of Scottish origin or is resident permanently in Scotland.

The events for the qualifier and final have been devised by Stuart Murray and Jamie Barr; they are also the referees for both events.

The following information is to be considered as a rough draft, some minor details are not finalised and updates will be added at a later date.
This is the earliest the events have been made available, thereby giving everyone ample time to prepare this year.

The following events are not necessarily in the order they will be on the day.

Clean and press-120kg on an Olympic bar with land rover type wheels on the ends for reps.

Deadlift 280kg standard bar for reps

Grip-van hold on a frame for time

Medley-130kg farmers for 15m,230kg duck walk for 15m,2 or 3 100kg sacks to be carried 15m and loaded onto a barr

Arm over arm –weighted sled 300kg-subject to testing.

Stones-110-160kg

Where possible it is hoped that 2 athletes will be going head to head.

All normal rules regarding the use of tacky, powersuits, straps, belts etc will apply.

The top 10 and 2 reserves will go through to the final.

SCOTLAND’S STRONGEST MAN FINAL promoter Lewis McLean

The competition will be held in Fort William the venue is not yet finalised.
Start time 12.00, athletes arrive 10.00
Date Saturday May 3rd

The final will be contested over 8 events.

The following events are not necessarily in the order they will be on the day of competition.

Log-lift 120kg for reps

Car-roll two complete 360degree revolutions

Deadlift brick lift for max weight-(similar to Bavarian lift)

Lorry pull with harness and rope

Hercules hold

Squat cage.approx 230kg opener with 6 barrels to be added

Powerstairs 225kg, 250kg, 295kg

Stones-probably increasing from qualifier to 110kg-170kg.

i got confused as well couple times, they really should edit the first message with all the info of location, date, venue, events etc.

...but thats what the SB events calendar is about!

Good session today at Unit 20, absolutly freezing though!

Farmers- 110/20m, 70/40m/60m

280kg Van Hold- 22 seconds

Also messed around with the 420kg tyre, 215kg duck walk and some stones

Had an alright session today, seemed quite switched off and the head was somewhere else for some reason. Completed all the sets/ reps I needed to do so atleast I didnt fall short.

Trained tonight instead of tomorrow so I dont have wet clothes in my bag to go home with. Thought it wasnt going to be that great due to training yesterday, but it turned out to be an awesome session. Think its down to the load of carbs I had last night and this morning.

Clean & Press- 70/5, 80/3, 110/5(1 oly clean and 4 continentals)

Seated Barbell Press- 70/5, 80/4/4

CG Bench- 70/5, 90/3, 110/2, 90/5

OH DB Ext- 35/8, {50/8, 35/10 DROP}

Tricep Circuit- {10 dips; 10 66kg straight bar PDs; 10 45kg rope PDs} DONE TWICE, NO REST

Finished off with 10mins on the x-trainer on interval setting for conditioning.
