Good luck for the comp skinnyfatguy (how does that one suit you?) Wink

Thanks Jonny! Skinnyfatguy will do Cool

Ok, comp write up!

Felt good going into it, not too much nerves, though still can't eat in the morning of the comp really.

First event - Log press. They changed the format a bit so it was 1 point for the 50kg log, 2 for the 70, and 3 for the 95, with 2 bonus points if you did all three in a row. Missed the 95 on 1st attempt, knew it would be touch and go, so just went back and repped the 70, getting 7 in total, and the intial 1 with the 50. In retrospect it would have been wiser to pump out a few with the 70, and drop back to the 50, but it felt a bit wrong to just be firing out reps on the 50. Might have placed me a spot higher if I did tho, as ended up on 15 points, and there were 3 others on 16. Got 11th equal in this.

Conans - First two f**kers went and got over 2 revolutions. Knew based on last year that anything over about 1 and a half should get a decent placing, but was starting to think it was maybe lighter or something. Felt fine from the start, and got breathing regular after the first lap, made it just over 2, which was a PB, and placed 8th. Happy with that.

Medley - Cross and chain were fine, as quick as they could have been really. Sack I f**ked up the first attempt to pick it up, and lost a couple of seconds. Maybe cost a couple of places, but finished it in just over 50 seconds, so happy enough. Placed 11th.

Deadlift hold - f**ked up the amount of chalk i used, and left hand started slipping early, and gave way at 26secs. Was hoping for around 40 secs, which would have only placed my 1 higher, but was f**ked off about losing it on the grip. Last week grip was solid, and I'd made 30 seconds comfortably. Placed 10th.

Car Carry - really hard to tell how fast you could go with this. Didn't feel anything like the yoke. Was fine, and tried to pick up the pace a bit as I went, but then slowed off at about 15m for some reason. Would have liked to place higher on this, but heavier and shorter would've suited me better, as I never move fast whatever the weight Happy Placed 11th.

Truck pull - brutal. 18 tonnes, and was way different from the car pulling we'd been doing in training. Having the rope to pull on made it a lot different too. Got it moving, but there was a we incline at about 1.5m where a few got stuck. I made it to 2.5, but it wasn't shifting after that. Called it a day after a few max effort static pulls, but placed highest out of the folk who got stuck on that first wee bit, so got 10th.

Stones - was in 11th going into these, and felt fairly fresh, so plan was nail first three 'fast', take a breath, and go for the 135. Went to plan, and got about an inch away from nailing the 135 (which would've only made the difference of one place, but still would have been an awesome end to the comp) but wasn't to be. Placed 6th tho, so best of the day, and brought me up into 10th overall.

Really enjoyed getting back into it. Main thing I thought was, even tho I've had a s**tty year of training, and only started to pick things up in the last month or two, I'd still improved since last year. Made a couple of mistakes, but was happy with my performance on the whole. Plan - hit the secret lab over winter, get fitter by talking about swimming and doing medleys, and get stronger.

Solid performance Bri!

Good to see you straight back at it!

Looks like you already have your winter plan in place. My advise - don't go on another diet!

Thanks Jonny! Aye, the Plan is in place. The diet was unintentional! But no plans to lose weight Happy I'm just under 10kg's lighter than this time last year tho, and almost as strong, so I'm hoping I can go back to about 100, and hit some new PB's in the coming months. That's The Plan anyway Happy

Thanks JC! Aye, 105's is a distinct possibility, otherwise just nail randoms like Shetland and Fitlike. Depends on strength levels and bodyweight Happy Though I can't see the poundage going back up above 105 realistically.

Straight back is the only way! (though I am feeling a bit f**ked today Happy)

Tuesday s**t;

Axle press from rack
w/up w/bar
6x65
2x80
2x2x90 - first set solid, second tougher, but still good. Wasn't sure what to do today, or to take it light so soon after the comp, but thought f**k it, get it done.

Fronties
5x60
2x90
2x2x110 - 2nd rep of second set wee bit of a grinder, but all solid other than that. 120+ in there just now, but really want to nail PB of 130 in a month or so.

Seated shoulder press
5x60
2x5x70 - second set tough, first solid. Numbers creping up across the board.

Pull ups - 2x4
hanging knee raises - 20
pull ups - 4
hanging knee raises - 20

That'll do it!

8x60

2x2x110 - all solid
8x90

Deadlifts

Sunday - right bicep tendonitis was flared to f**k after chopping wood, and weird carpal tunnel s**t as well, hands had no power and looked like deformed claws. Session went to f**k Happy

Clean (1) and press
6x60
2x2x80 - right arm was just giving way. bailed.

Yoke
few runs of about 15, 25, and 15m with 210kg - all super comfy. heavier soon.

Not much else I could do with the arm, so just took some anti-inflamatories and rested up. Now man flu's hit, and I'm oot the game for a few days I reckon. Back to it on Friday.

Everything has been really good recently, knee still gives some grief, but nothing out of control. Gave up physio coz i was just spending £30 a week for nothing really. I should have just invested in a log splitter, or some pre-cut logs instead of that axing madness on Saturday and I would have been sound! Haven't had the tendon s**t for ages though, maybe a year or longer, so I know it will calm down pretty quick. Also got my wetsuit at the weekend, and feel so invincible like a superhero in it, no way any injuries can occur with that badboy on Grin Had to take it off after 5 mins yesterday tho as it was baking, but will be perfect for the winter Happy
