Ok after watching the vid of my first comp i look more like a telly tubby than a powerlifter,ill try ,no i will lose the weight and qualify again in may for bench and deads ill see how the squats go but im crap at them will be going to Marcs gaff in the near future to get some tips from himself.Got my super mini bands today they add about 50lbs each at the top of the lift (22.5kg)so had a play with them been sick last couple of days so dident go mad.

Band work looked good, Tom. Did you enjoy it? On the dieting front, just think back to why you got into the iron game. Did you think - "I want to be a powerlifting champion?" Or was it "FFS, I need to lose a bit of weight and get into better shape."? Probably the latter, I'd guess. I reckon you're a natural 100, for what it's worth. And if you do it right, you'll gain strength as you lose weight. No special diets - just cut out the s**t food, reduce the ale intake and keep training hard and you couldn't stop yourself coming into the 100s even if you wanted to! I reckon you're being unfair to yourself with the telly tubby stuff, and you don't want to lose it too fast. A suggestion - as well as keeping weight lifted pbs, why not start keeping over bodyweight pbs as well? For example, you did 130 last Saturday at 107, so your comp pb is +17. That way, if you lift the same weight at a lighter bodyweight, it'll be a new pb. Just a silly little motivational tool that might help if your numbers don't go up as your bodyweight reduces!

but see how you get on tom if you can do it slowly there will be minimal effect of stregth

thanks for the support lads, Martin yes it was health reasons why i took up the weights if you look at my log on pluk very first page you will see why,the band work was great really hard work like them alot,the 100s is a more realistic weight for me to be at ill take it slow and hold the strength i hope,and hey that was +23kg not 17k lol,Sugden rocks the support on here is unreal,got to be the best pl site on the net well done guys.
