Personally I think with the psyche up it's got to be something you practice, so you know where the line is and avoid over-psyching yourself up, whilst simultaneously not doing it so often that you're conditioning yourself to it to the point where it doesn't work because you're too used to it.

I think it needs to be something you can switch on and off, and you also need to know how to psyche up part way too. You don't want to be psyched up from before your first squat to after your last deadlift, you need ups and then downs in between each lift or you'll end up exhausted.
When I was competing in tkd, I had real trouble managing my adrenaline between events and rounds of the sparring. By the time I'd get to my last fight I'd be at a real disadvantage because I was knackered.

With regards to psyching up part way, for example for your daily work sets on a day you're feeling s**tty, a tiny whiff of amonia and a slightly faster paced song will do the job to take you back to your baseline, whilst you need a big huff on the tork and something seriosuly angry to get you to 100% above baseline for comp.

I think this is the kind of thing to keep in mind that'll help with getting better at the sport rather than just getting strong.

What do you lot think?

Tbh guys I think I still pysch up most work sets but not like I used to I tend to do a loud grunt and say come on and then I'm switched on to lifts

Back when I started lifting I remember head butting metal filling cabinate after failing a rep got so angry I knutted the cabinate bust my nose and pulled the weight I had just failed faster than my last warmup

Although this is effective its bit the best for conserving energy and making Friends haha
