It annoys me because I feel the article was designed to belittle his success, knowing that most of the general public would discredit his achievments at the mere mention of steroids.

Lets be honest, we all knew it was likely a factor. Now, the 'article' is (supposedly) there to inform, and a lot of people wouldn't have been aware that it was a factor without the article. However you have to wonder what good that information will do for the majority of folks reading it? We do know however that it will certainly inflame.

A lot of people involved in strength sports, particularly at a decent level, know all about the risk factors involved in drug use, and make their decisions accordingly. This is always going to have the effect of 'normalising' it for aspirational trainers and athletes.

Could some good come from this article, and indeed situation? Perhaps. It could make the guys jabbing a gram of test a week to push their 180kg deadlift up (so they look better on their Facebook athlete page) ready for their 4th first timers competition think a little more. It may bring home that in order to be competitive at the top level in a non tested sport you have to do certain things that could kill you. Full stop.

If that causes some to question what they are doing, and maybe even prevent some doing it, then that has to be a positive.

I do however feel for Mike's family and friends who will inevitably have to endure all types of speculation again.

Vanilla - but the article doesn't mention "test" it mentions DMAA

So if I was that naive novice you speak of I'd be thinking "f**k I'm never touching DMAA - I'll stick to my safe 1g of test"

So I don't think it helps anybody ?!

"results of its autopsy and other tests showed Jenkins had cardiomyopathy and his death is considered accidental; but years of steroid use was evident"

"Jenkins ALSO had DMAA or 1,3-dimethylamylamine, methylhexanamine in his system"

Surely evident years of steroid use would have been found quite quickly, not months and months of testing?
