The BDFPA British Single Lifts Championships are in Bradford on 26/27 July.

As far as I'm aware there are three more qualifying events:

The Midlands Qualifier (Sat 17th May)
The traditional Bradford "last ditch" Northern Qualifer (Sat 24th May)
And now there is the South East qualifier (Sat 7th June)
BDFPA South East Single Lifts Qualifier
Saturday, 7th June
9am weigh-in
Sunbury Cricket Club, Lower Hampton Rd., Sunbury on Thames, Middlesex, TW16 5PS

Event poster here: http://chantlersolutions.com/BDFPAEventPosterSE.doc
Entry form here: http://chantlersolutions.com/BDFPAEntryFormSE.doc

You can do equipped or unequipped and it costs £2.50 per discipline.

Come on all you southerners who haven't yet qualified and want to lift at the Brits. This is your last chance!

Lovely pic. Thanks Andy!

So, anyone up for this comp (who hasn't already told me)? Just be sure to let me know before the day (the night before is okay, but earlier would be preferable) and make sure you bring your membership card and your money!

Was just discussing this today with a friend of mine who's going there. Think i'll go as well if not just to find out what my real BW is incase I'm a bit over before the Europeans.

Bit short on dosh now though so it depends on if I can catch a ride as I don't want to spend 50 pounds on a taxi.

Jaako, if you own some scales then bring them along. The ones we are using at the comp have been professionally calibrated and are probably more accurate than any you will ever use (seriously). So you can calibrate your own scales against them. I think I'm going to bring mine from home to do this!

Where do you live? Maybe we can organise a lift for you?

I did bring my own scales with me to the British but didn't bring them to the actual weigh in room but 5 min after weighing in (the first time out of three) my scales showed 1.3kg more than the scales used at weigh in.

They are electronic though so not sure if I can calibrate them, but can at least get an idea of how wrong they are. Good idea!

I live in Lewisham but might be able to take an early bus elsewhere if that would make an easier pickup.

When I said calibrate I really meant that you might notice how wrong they are at different weights (eg, we can see how far out they are for you and me, since I will weigh a lot more than you) and then you'd know how much to add or subtract, as you said.

I reckon you can get from Lewisham to Sunbury in just over an hour using public transport (train). Then someone could collect you. Check http://www.tfl.gov.uk/

Odd, I remember looking for trains to Sunbury before when I've gone to the divisional meets last year and this Feb but couldn't get any trains. I must have done something wrong when I looked for them because now there are plenty of trains in the mornings so shouldn't be any problem getting there. And it doesn't take more than 30min longer compared to the 1h taxi journey that cost me 50.

And it's only like 3Km from the station so can just jog it.

Cool, see you there then. Will send off an application form later on today.
