Curious to know where the bigger guys on here get decent clobber, particularly formal/smart casual stuff?

I don't mean f**king Jacamo or any of that big 'n tall s**te, I carry most of my 'wrong weight' around my waist and the rest of me is fairly jacked which means that standard larger sizes tend to fit like s**t also and don't really look all that flattering.

I have a couple of weddings coming up, nothing too formal and have gone down the tailored route for a shirt, impossible to find something with a 20" collar off the peg that didn't have a waist like a tent, just waiting on delivery and am hoping for a good fit as they took loads of measurements.

However for trousers I'm fairly stuck, I spend 100% of my time outside work wearing shorts as i just find jeans etc uncomfortable as they're always a s**te fit and so don't have a great deal of ideas where to look. High street shopping round my area is appalling.

Thinking I may have to go tailored for them too but most places only seem to take waist, hips, seat and inside length into account, I need something to fit my legs nicely without looking like a human windsock!

Get to a Slaters menswear. Always found them very helpful and can make adjustments on site.

I second that Slaters in Manchester alter your pants for free if you buy them there, also bought a suit which they sorted out.

Not convinced I'm jacked, but I also buy all my suits from Slater's as nothing off the peg ever fits me (I'm basically a six-foot dwarf).

Shirts for me are best from Charles Tyrwhitt or TM Lewin online, usually have some decent offers on as well

I'm a 19" collar and their 'classic cut' shirts are the ones you want to go for

John Banks are good for jeans, every so often; they're online too

Slaters as well for trousers. They should have a decent in-house tailor too, so they'll get the trousers to fit you easy enough...

Personally; I'm a 40" waist, but have to get 44" inch jeans/trousers to fit due to my large ass and thighs! I've had a few pairs of decent suit trousers made, but stopped at getting a suit jacket made as a) I'd hardly ever wear the thing and b) it would have cost a fortune (6ft 4, long arms and a c54" chest/back)! All equals a lot of material and man-hours!

I'll second Slaters, you can order online for delivery in store and then get them to do the alterations or even swap the trousers etc. I've had a couple of Charles Thywitt shirts too which are very good quality and not at all badly priced. There are some Hong Kong tailors do measuring sessions such as Ashas and Raja at locations around the country then post back to you in 4-5 wks, you really can tell the difference and feel really special when you wear it. Stick with dark grey, black or dark blue to stand the test of time with 3 button single breast.

i went to a wedding just the other week in shorts and a polo tshirt. having quads bigger then most "normal" peoples waists makes trousers unviable.

The Ralph Loren custom fit shirts are quite forgiving off the peg. Charles Thywitt are also quite good although I just get the collar and sleeve length then get darts

My tailor does a full tailored double cuff shirt for 125 or he can get some nice shirts from a supplier and alter them for a really good fit he does some good deals if you buy a few

Asda trousers 46'' waist 28'' inside leg for me perfect.

Shirts are a nightmare in general. Sainsburys shirts are quite a nice fit tight on the arms etc

To get married in I managed to hire a suit. 48'' waist trousers with braces to hold them up. 21'' neck shirt. 60'' chest waistcoat. Looked nice too. I'm small atm for me (140kg).

I always use M&S because you can mix & match jackets and trousers. Standard suits never come with a 50" chest and 38" waist. You can also buy 1 jacket with two pairs of trousers if like me you are "heavy" on trousers. Quality is usually acceptable as well!

I have found shorts+shirt+jacket to be a good combination when trousers are a hassle. Don't be fooled by the pics you'll find online (see below), it works for the larger gentlemen as well.

When you say "as well", you're implying you think it works for him. It's fair to say that we differ on this.
