Ouch! I have dislocated my other one previously too, but that was when I was 13/14 and I've had no issues since. How long did it take to get your pressing bac to a decent level?
Hopefully I can! If all goes to plan il be squatting the bar again 4/5weeks post op then slowly bring the numbers back up. I really need to build up my posterior chain so will be able to do loads of hamstring curls and back extensions until I can get back on a barbell too.

errr...... well... my pressing was s**t to start with and is still s**t now. Its hard to say as there isn't really a definitive timeframe!
Dislocation was 10/11 years ago and operation on the other side was 6 years ago.
Lets just say its continued to let me train rather than make any great strength increases (obviously most do!)

Same here. Have never really attacked it though, but am doing this year.

I got up to 87.5kg last year from 70 end of 2013, but that was around the time when my shoulder started dislocating. It's something il work on more probably in 2016.

Well, at least it let you train again! My pressing isn't fantastic either, though I put that down to shoulder issues not allowing me to push it as much as I would like regarding volume etc. I wont let my pressing stay this week for the rest of my lifting life even if it means I have to just close grip everything!

I think a bit technique tweeking (and assistance work) makes quite a difference. My pressing is on the up a little however I'm heavier than Ive ever been but the strength gain hasn't really gone up with the weight gain!Roll-Eyes

That sounds like something doesn't add up.. Tongue

Surely at (no offence) intermediate(bench for bw) levels of strength should at least improve with increase in body weight? But yeah like you said, technique would make a considerable difference. Do you have to do things with a relatively narrow grip now or can you do stuff wide? Bench/rows etc.

Those were good gains. I'd be very happy with the same.
I'm on a lose fat drive at the moment though, so bodyweight loss may well affect my pressing. Also, i'm back on the Combat Sambo, and all the heavy bag work may have a detrimental effect too.
I now do everything with a narrow grip, have ditched bench completely and use a hammer grip on some stuff.

What kind of body weight and lifts have you got at the moment?

I weigh around 97.5ish (aiming for 87.5), and last week I did 210x1 on conventional deadlift (no belt, hook grip).
I have been (always) very inconsistent with lifting weights, so a little consistency should, theoretically, see my lifts go up. Don't think i've ever lifted weights for more than two months without taking a break.
But my main goal is the combat sambo, so nothing can get in the way of that.
Much prefer strongman training over the lifting of barbells. It was great to finally have a go on some equipment over the Christmas period.

That's still decent lifting!

Why not lift alongside the sambo? How competitive are you with the sambo? What's the goal there?

Given a provisional date of the 26th of Feb for surgery, which is much later than I was expecting/it should have been. It could be sooner but I'm going to assume for the sake of training that it will be then.

Il start a new training block tomorrow and try build up a few weak areas. Il also low bar squat and sumo deadlift with my belt/sleeves once a week or so again.

I am also starting quite an intense rotation on placement for the next 3weeks before moving to Sc**thorpe, so it may be difficult to get in all the sessions that I want. Plan is laid out and will be autoregulated on a weekly basis. Bearing that in mind, here are some goals for the next 4/5weeks.

Mini cycle goals:
Hamstring & upper back hypertrophy.
Weight 76-77kg on average.
200kg+ squat.

This will be fun.

Cool

After nearly a week off and more or less in bed.. Tried a bit today. Didn't do much as I was restricted by coughing between sets..

Squats - barefoot and wide, forgot my oly shoes.
1 x 3 @70kg
3 x 2 @100kg
1 x 2 @117.5kg
1 x 2 @135kg
1 x 2 @155kg
1 x 1 @170kg - belt, felt smooth, and quite easy, stance felt nice too.

Sumo - Hook grip.
1 x 2 @110kg
1 x 1 @150kg
3 x 1 @165kg
1 x 12 @165kg - straps, started coughing after the 12th otherwise could've gone on.

Weight went down to 73 last week, through copious amounts of ice cream back to 76.5kg today.
