They're a good exercise but I wouldn't do them like that with all the walking back and front box squat to start.
would set up in squat rack and do first one off pins set at collar height

I smash strict presses on shoulders every week

Nowt up with your variant IMO, but could maybe do to sit on the bench better as you looked a bit unstable in the core

Some from the racks, standing. Some from the seated frame. Some that are cleaned and then seated presses etc... Some cleaned and standing strict-presses etc

The more strict presses you get in, the better the presser you'll become IMO

I do it this way. I wouldn't fancy dumping the weight the way you do it. Possible sore knees etc.

Any reason for the switch to seated?

I'm forced to do seated OH stuff due to lifting in a dingy shed, would never do it through choice.

For me, it makes you press everything strict & IMO, this gives you better strength gains. Takes all leg drive out of it, and if you press without the back up on a bench, it works your core too (although this will reduce the weight you can press etc)

I'd say a good mix of seated pressing and standing pressing (strict) will give you best overall workout for shoulders and best for gaining strength

Seated full range smith machine presses like Savickas does really works wonders for me.
