Got peer pressured into pulling 300 today Happy

Glad I did in the end.

Tried my up most to have 0 hitch and got mostly a clean rep!

First time pulling 300 and feeling on top of the world! Pulled 280 for 2 singles before this

Plan today was 1 top set of 120 x 5 for a rep pb but fluffed up the first set and couldn't leave without trying again...

30 x 10
70 x 5
90 x 3
110 x 3
120 x 1
120 x 5 ish
120 x 5 Happy
90 x 9

I'm feeling generous since I pulled 300 on Saturday so I'm gonna class this as 2 sets of 120 x 5 Happy

Brutal rep with 300kg. I'd have passed out pulling for that long! Perhaps it would have gone up quicker with a bit of Rage Against the Machine in the background instead of Puff Daddy?!

Log looks super strong. I haven't done much at all with the log since coming back to lifting. I used to just push press, both bar and log, but have found it much easier this time around jerking. Have you experimented with that at all?

I jerk on the axle abit but I found, after a few experiments that the best log technique is definitely, lean back, head back, complete the press, then head through, rather than trying to force your head through midway through the lift.

I find most of the really big log pressers do this, big z, tom hibbert, hixxy

Seems to work.

There was no way I was putting that 300 down before I finished the lift!! Part of the reason it took so long though was because I was so desperate not to do a massive hitch to finish the lift, as with it being my first 300 I really wanted it to look as nice as possible. I think I got mostly there in that sense.

And thanks. My goal is just to keep improving all round and maybe take a shot at the untested U90 log press record one day Happy I've already repped the BNSF record in training so just waiting for that to come up in comp. Would be a dream to hold both

If it works for you, it works for you. As you say, most log pressers utilise the same technique. I only asked as Rob Kearney makes very good use of the split jerk to shift some mad weights at a lower bodyweight. With you being under 90kg, I thought that the comparison was possible to draw.

As regards the deadlift, I understand the desire not to hitch. The most I ever pulled from the floor 13 years ago was 260kg, and whilst it was quicker, it was hitched. I never had that kind of grind in my deadlifting. It either went or it didn't.
