Well done Sam, really cracking stuff. Super impressive power cleans!!

I must say I’m confused about how I thought the stone-off was gonna go down. I assumed that it was a knockout tournament style with none of the previous points counting towards final 8 standings. I guess the way they did it was more fair (at least compared to have they’ve attempted to do it in the last few WSM heats).

Congrats again. BSM next?

Serious shoulder strength there.

It makes me realise that I get a huge amount out of leg drive, as my strict press is terrible. I'd like to pull the "I'm 6ft 8" and my range of motion is about 4ft" card, but I think I'm kidding myself!

Proportionally, what is your strict 1rm to push 1rm? My strict press is probably only 70-75% of my push. It's remarkable watching lifters like Graham Hicks strict press within 7-8% of their push 1rm.

I haven't really pushed my push press out of a rack for a good while. I haven't really got the room in my container to press so I do it all outside at the moment.

I would say my push press from a rack is at around 140 and the most I've ever strict pressed is 110. But that was probably 6 months ago. At I guess if my push was 150 I'd say my strict would be about 120.

I don't really like strict press to be honest. I only usually do it if I've done all my other important stuff and I got nothing else to do. I personally prefer bench press over strict. Get alot more heavy overload on my triceps that way.

Now England's is out the way and I can put axle for reps on the back burner I'm going to try and work my way up to a 150 log.

What Hicks does is very impressive in terms of limited leg drive, but I personally just think people are holding themselves back massively by not using their legs

Oh and the other thing is I'm going to ATTEMPT to pull 300 on Sunday for the pound for pound competition. I also want to attempt it before I start my new deadlift cycle. Which is going to consist solely of snatch grip deadlifts for a while (depending on Brits events that is)

And to follow that next week will hopefully be a 140 log. Giving me 440 as my entry.

Thanks mate. In a good groove at the moment.

Dan Benson won. He won BNSF world's last year. Don't think he's a sudgener.
