Anyone had this problem?

I decided that it was time too stop deadlifting to let it start too heal and i tried some strict pressing as iv not done any for a good while but the pain i got in the SI joint was tremendous when i finished my set of 6 with 80 kg. It locked up and it nearly floored me.

Iv had this problem for a couple of months now but its never bn anywere near as painfull as this.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, obviously thts it for the heavy lifting untill i'm sorted.

Cheers!

I have suffered with SI joint pain on and off since I had a car crash over 10 years ago. Every so often it jumps out and causes extreme pain. I find hyper extensions are really good as is doing the plank regularly. The best thing by far is a little complicated to explain but its something like this: Lay on one side with the leg on the floor straight, bend the top leg over and in front so it is at 90 degrees. Grab hold of the bent leg just above the knee and pull it upwards in line with the body and push it towards the floor at the same time.
Long winded I know but if you get it right the relief it brings is awesome.

Cheers mate, does it have a name or is there a vid anywere on the net? Doesnt matter if not, il give it a try.

Its really bad at the mo, just hope i havent caused any lasting damage too it.

I could imitate doing a weightless reverse hyper on the kitchen top, would tht be any good aswell?

mike look for vids or pics of general lower back stretches look for one which matches what shortandmighty described. tip. keep back of both shoulders on the floor when you do the stretch.

i tore an SI joint about 8 years ago deadlifting without warm up sets. took a while to get right again. i had to have chiropractor treatment.

Don't think there is a name for it. I learnt it from going to see a chiropractor. My joint popped out twice in the space of three months and I couldn't bear to stand up straight. If it is still painful after a few days I would seriously recommend seeing a chiropractor it was the best money I have spent. I just do hyper extensions laid flat on the floor. Also try some yoga moves like the cobra and the dog. Basically anything that stretches the connective tissue around the joint. Hope this helps.
