![]() Chris 'The Magician' Melling Member 1443, 978 posts SQ 270, BP 180, DL 320770.0 kgs @ 135kgs UnEq | 6/11/2012 Overheads Somebody in the rack when I got to the gym so started off with seated barbell press for a change ,this was done sat on the bench so no back support , nicely surprised how strong my core felt , all the swiss ball work and planks have obviously paid dividends ![]() Seated press 5 mins warmup/stretching Bar x 20 60k x 10 60k x 10 70k x 6 80k x 4 80k x 4 Pushpress from rack 60k x 10 60k x 10 80k x 4 100k x 4 110k x 1 115k x 1 120k Fail 100k x 4 60k x 10 60k x 10 wide grip 60k x 10 wide grip Done - Great session , 120k was painfully close , felt really strong on the unrack and walkout but delts were a bit fried from the previous sets , confident I can hit this as a single now with light warm ups , the wide grip sets to finish were done to get the bar sitting across my delts rather than in my hands as per usual , will be front squatting with same grip and weight thursday with the aim being to increase weight every week so as to improve my wrist flexibility , was talking to a local former weightlifter last week who gave me loads of pointers in getting my overheads up so really excited to put it all into practice and see where I can get ![]() | ||

![]() Chris 'The Magician' Melling Member 1443, 978 posts SQ 270, BP 180, DL 320770.0 kgs @ 135kgs UnEq | 8/11/2012 squats After last weeks session I didnt intend to max out till the end of the month but ive had an awesome week training , feel like my strength is coming back all in one big lump after months of feeling average , whilst I am still wary of rushing things Ive decided to make hay while the shines and push on , whats the worst that could happen eh ![]() Squats in rack ( Thor knee sleeves on ) 5 mins warmup/stretching 60k x 10 60k x 10 100k x 4 140k x 4 180k x 2 200k x 2 Sleeves off and Thor wraps on 210k x 1 - had a spot for this ,spotter thought it was just above depth 220k x 1 - High , almost there but felt strong so will get it next time Wraps off and sleeves back on 180k x 4 - easy and all deep 140k x 10 - weight was easy but gassed out after last rep - need to get fit lol Front squat with weightlifting grip 60k x 6 60k x 6 60k x 6 Done , happy again , back felt solid throughout. I dont normally have a spotter so I think thats why I was a little high on the 2 heavy sets , last guy who spotted me on a heavy lift actually pulled me backwards with the bar , think he was trying to curl 200k off my back ![]() ![]() | ||

I've gone a fair bit weaker to be honest, maybe partly due to dieting a bit. Keeping my eye on this journal though, nice training going on. And you probably beat me on the other events in that comp anyway, I can't remember everything but I only got 2 or 3 reps on log and was s**t at the hold and fingals finger. I did ok on stones though I think. In fact I think that was my last comp. | ||

![]() Chris 'The Magician' Melling Member 1443, 978 posts SQ 270, BP 180, DL 320770.0 kgs @ 135kgs UnEq | 13/11/2012 Deadlifts Normally do deads on a monday but my cars been in the garage having the wheel bearing done since friday and I didnt fancy a 2 mile walk in the rain before training , got the car back today which was nice only to find the other side now needs doing - not so nice , so head was a bit fried before I even started tonight and it showed in the session , no real drive just going through the motions ![]() Deads 10 mins warmup/stretching 60k x 10 60k x 10 100k x 6 Feeling really tight in a bad way , no cramps but uncomfortable 100k x 6 140k x 4 180k x 4 Still tight and no punch to my leg drive 220k x 2 260k x 2 Really tough all the way through , 2nd rep better but still a struggle 220k x 4 180k x 10 Called it a night , felt really down leaving the gym but had a think since I got home , Ive done a load of walking the last few days with the car being laid up and ive felt it in my calfs and shins , reasoned that the lack of leg drive and tightness in my back is also down to this , added to my brain being in overdrive about the car needing more work and the gym being dead (just me the last 30 mins) it prob wasnt ever going to be a great session so gonna write it off and move on , onwards and upwards ![]() | ||
