Seen a few videos from the guy who invented it (louie simmons?)

He would have you believe it's a miracle cure for the lower back.
Anyone got any real experience on this?

If they are worth giving a go then I need to find a gym with one which will be a task in itself as they seem quite rare.

For prehabbing and rehabbing the lower back they are brilliant. If your lower back is usually healthy I wouldn't try too hard to seek one out though

Expensive luxury like the ghr machine and not necessary to get a beastly strong back - but they will work. As for curing back issues - they are a complex thing, some will be benefit to the extension and opening up of the intervertebral spaces that the reverse hyper does others it may aggravate.

Personally, they are the difference between doing home with a stiff back and feeling brnd new! used to love doing them post-deds.

that's normal hypers though - a great exercise in its own right.

was looking for original louie simmons article on the benefits and found this - quite a long read, but interesting.
https://bretcontreras.wordpress.com/2010/04/14/industry-rant-back-extensions-reverse-hypers

"When an athlete can demonstrate proficiency at heavy back extensions and reverse hypers, you know that he has adequate levels of hamstring and hip flexor flexibility, anti-flexion core stability, and glute activation." - something my physio has been stressing - get glutes firing, hip flexor and hamstring flexible.

That is a regular hyper. A reverse hyper is were the body is in a fixed position and it's your legs moving up and down.

To be a semantic cnut, but your not trying to hyperextend the back/spine nor is the main movement back extensions Happy
