Long story short, last was bad year of knee injuries. Early 2010 saw a new ACL ligament ripped out of my arse/ham string.

Its taken me untill now to get reps out of 140 on the back squat. Angry
Lifting at virgina active hasn't exactly done my motivation much good either...

So with the sob story out of the way:

I'm going to set a nice simple target of 3, 4, 5 plates. My lifts suck right now, I guess I'm looking for advice on a routine, help!

actually, with a bad knee i would recomment to stay on the 5 repping on hard days and 8 to 10 top reps on the easy days. You need to get thouse knees strong, so giving them a hard time with triples, doubles or singles is a bad idea.

Try to work on technique and focus on form rater than weights, plates or anything else. Perfect form or nothing. If you have to fail a rep because you are breaking form, do it.

I have had this procedure done, and the patella graft also. I think this is the better of the two in terms of rehab and ongoing issues.

I would say that for any quad work you do, make sure you also do ham work. It is weakened by the op and you will need to give it extra love. Mine is now stronger than it ever was.

For squats, I varied it a lot, included things like hack squats on the smith machine etc. I tended to do fairly high rep to start with, then moved on to doing doubles or singles at the end of sessions, not going max effort, just testing the water.

I also started light exaggerating the depth on the lights squats and working the heavier ones down as confidence grew. I still lack confidence with the squat though, and actually frefer fronties, which is a surprise as you have more forward knee bend.

I htink as long as you are doing closed chain exercises (feet on floor) you should generally be ok. Just try not to bounce squats etc.

Minewill never be 100% and I cant do contact sports no more, but managed to do some novice strongman this year. As long as its in a straight line or standing still it seems ok. Except yoke, it hurts coz the took out mostof my cartlidge too

Thanks for the advice guys, I'm feeling the 5's as a good rep range. Thinking of going with a good old 5x5 for a couple of weeks.

Happy NYE by the wayGrin
