new training log to chart the rehab from pec major injury till the end of the year.

Short history:

I have always had shoulder pains from squatting and benching and it turns out i had tight pec major tendon which was being overstressed. Then being a proper idiot i went too heavy on wide grip bench and the left side pec major tendon pulled clean off the bone. Surgery followed and this is where it starts again.

Overview of the recovery:
- surgery was done three weeks ago, stitches were removed last week
- in a sling for 6 weeks while the tendon grows back on and is very fragile
- physio starts straight after
- i can already do stuff which doesnt involve the left arm or tensing the pecs - which happens in suprisingly many moves!
- couple months after the sling is off i should be back into doing all the main movements, which would be by the end of the year
- estimates about returning back to full strength range around 9 months mark. I will use my 130 jerk and 100-105 strict press as a measuring stick.
- during next 3 months i cant get stronger, so i have decided to get fitter and leaner.
- when i got injured i was 117.5kg, i am already down to 108.5 and am likely to lose fair bit more
- The left arm has shrunk into nothingness. I didnt only stop training with it, i stopped doing anything at all. Its amazing how quickly it shrinks.

You wont see on this log:
- PBs or big lifts
- anything worthwhile Wink

You will see:
- vague ramblings about wanky exercises
- cardio
- sense of frustration
- some bo***cks

Methods:
- bought a small weights set home so when i can start doing the rehab in 3 weeks, i can do it couple times a day if needed
- bought a hip belt - have tried it couple of times and it is indeed a brutal exercise. Looking forward to starting to use some proper weights with it.
- Sugden centre for leg press and exercise bike etc

Last night was the first session in Sugden

Exercise bike 5 mins

Leg press
4 12 rep warm up sets, then 3x12 x stack

Will start one leg work next week.

leg curl

3x12xsome weight

leg extension

3x12xsome weight

back extension on a machine (cant do this free weight, due to tensing the pec muscle if i would do that)

3x20x about 75% of a stack

Exercise bike: 20 mins - brutal intervals, heart rate went close to 170 Grin

Good luck with the rehab mate, and try not to get too frustrated! When I f**ked up my knee it took a loooong time to get back to normal. But it got there, and it sounds like you have a good plan! BTW, is the weight loss helping with the snoring?? Grin Grin Grin Grin

thanks guys - yeah the weight loss is amazing. First to go is all the water etc from lack of training. Then i was basically lying in bed for 2 weeks after the surgery and high on painkillers, so that lead to further weight loss.

And only now it is more deliberate cardio based weight loss Grin

unfortunately there is only one position i can sleep in now, and thats on my back - the worst position for snoring Grin

yeah but what are you going to do - just have to plough on and try not to f**k up again Grin The recovery process is not really that big of a deal - plenty of guys go through the same and more.

the way i look at it, i'll start nailing new pressing PBs around next may time, and hopefully can nail front squat and deadlift pbs around feb-march time. I should be as good as new come the next summers comp season.

whats the situation with work ?

yeah i'm back at work. The arm has recovered fast and the most challenging thing at the moment is not to do stuff with it (docs orders) - 3 more weeks of this sounds really long though.

only if it can be done with one arm Grin maybe later the year mate, for now, its all very simple stuff...
