Problem families

Scotbasher - forever Member 59, 2115 posts	I saw this article this week: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/9416535/Problem-famil... I guess we can all recall people from school or locally that would fit the model to which the author refers but can the government realistically legislate to prevent these types of families from sliding into "problem family" status. Is threatening with ASBO, removal from council property and benefit cuts actually going to work or just punish the very children they are trying to protect?

Member 38, 6253 posts	People do have the freedom to have as many kids as they like; but there is an undeniable link between socioeconomic factors which include crowding, financial hardship and the like to poor achievement in schools. The argument could be that it's the parents who are punishing their kids by bringing them into a world ill-equipped to financially deal with the number of kids, limiting their options for the future and leading them to further poverty in their lifetimes.

He cant Member 354, 1452 posts	Far too many career single mothers/problem families about who churn out another kid the moment the last one gets close to the age where they'd lose benefits. No intention of working, just full of excuses as to why they shouldn't have to go to work. "F*ck it pet it's ok, you sit at home all day moaning about why you haven't got enough money for another bottle of cider after buying your cigarettes, never mind making sure the kids eat decent food, put your feet up, I'll go to work and pay for it all with my taxes." familiar situation around here and most places I'd imagine.

do i love snipers? hellyeah Member 2025, 883 posts	after seeing lots of these families i can tell you the only reason money is a problem is because it all goes on booze and drugs. they are problem families because the parents were cts and their parents were cts. apart from taking the kids away at an early age which is impossible there is very little to be done. they have always been there and always will be.

I feel bad for kids in this situation. I personally feel that guidance goes a long way when you're young and when you don't have a solid role model who can teach you what you need to know, things can become very difficult. They are the modern equivalent of medieval beggars, wallowing in filth begging for turnips, I couldn't bear to be like that! It's a crap scenario for the kids involved, like people have said without role models how are they going to break the cycle? People tend to take the path of least resistance and if a life on benefits is the norm all your young life it's unlikely that you're going to change. Thinking about this whilst watching Jez Kyle is not the best combo ha ha. My mind is saying it's a complex problem and we need to help these people blah blah blah, but my heart is saying screw the lazy scum, drown em in a rain water filled skip.

Nice, "normal" people with a good education pop out 1-2 nice normal children who also grow up to be nice normal, well rounded people whilst these cts have half a dozen kids who then grow up to be cts like their parents and have 6 more of the blighters. Just 2 generations down the line the nice people have increased their population to 4 and the cts have increased to 36. WE ARE fkED!!
