I bought 2 BOAR bars about 8 yrs ago for little money and they're still going strong, they've survived 400kg deadlifts 380kg squats and other than one of the ends being a bit stiffer to rotate they're fine. They were just made in an small engineering shop in the midlands in the 70s/80s, I can't see why it's so difficult to make a bar that meets the requirement. It's not going to be so much more money for the better steel although it might be more difficult to form good knurling on harder material.

I'm not surprised Bryn ! It's my dream to own a few boar plates

Was it a guy on here or MT that made his own bar and did a damn fine job of it too

It was Simon T, he made the Dragon Bar Cool

He used very high PSI steel and found it very difficult to cut the knurling in, he had to take it to a firm with specialist equipment as far as I can remember

there seems to be a huge amount of new bars coming on the market.

are these all being made in same place with just different end caps?

They are some of the finest bars i've ever used and the knurling is excellent and doesn't shred your hands like some bars.

That ATX bar seems to tick all the boxes, would probably last most people a long time provided its not dropped on safety bars too often.

Watsons power bar £510, excellent knurling but quite stiff so not much feedback when deadlifting. I would like a TPB to complete my collection though.

I know the guy who owns that site. obviously he is selling the bars but has rated them as equal to TBP without as sharp knurling. its psi is high too. I'm very tempted by one
