Lol.
What is there to support the theory of needing protein within 30 minutes or so of training?
That is how I have always had shakes, and what most of the bumf I read when I started says.

Probably founded on an article written in a 1980s bodybuilding magazine written by Joe Weider to sell his latest supplement and has now become the received wisdom. It's probably not a bad habit to have a post workout drink but it seems the benefits are probably overstated. So much of the supplement industry is based on bulls**t when you actually read up on it, do you remember Cybergenics? Hugely expensive product with laughable before and after pictures. Cell mass was another which was basically creatine and glucose and some unproven additions which was then priced at several times the real price.
At the moment it all seems to be Charles Poliquin says xyz but there's lots who contradict his theories.

The timing of which is almost completely irreverent.

Train to get stronger.
Eat sufficient calories and macros to meet your goals.

PROFIT!

Why are you trying to simplify something which is so complicated Marc?

If I recall it was Chromium picolinate that was the special addition to it to Cell tech to improve insulin sensitivity, the truth was that it only improved your insulin sensitivity if you were chromium deficient. So the other 99.9% of people paid over the top to piss that down the drain along with the 3000mg of vitamin C they were told was essential for gains.

Chromium picolinate, that takes me back. What a bunch of s**t.

Do you remember Gugglestrones? Supposedly increase your thyroid production to rip fat off faster?

I'm afraid I can't remember that one, but there's been raw glandulars, dibencozide, arg/orn and. Countless others over the years that have been and gone due to their foundations on weak science.
A guy I know did his uni thesis on creatine and found no evidence to support that any of the variants were more effective than creatine monohydrate, but they have to sell it as "the next big thing"

This is a long read but worth it.

It's the best pusedo-science fitness debunking I have ever read it is on Charles and his claims of stomach acid deficiency. Glorious.
