It was knocking the stella back that put me in the 90's and now the 100's in the first place Grin , probably best to cut back but with xmas and new year looming there won't be much chance of that happening Grin , I'll need to get a handle on the weight gain though or I'll be cutting to make the 100's next year Tongue . Definetly will try to get through to the unit this year Roll-Eyes .
Not sure about the qualifier Confused , confident I could nail the 115kg log(even before year end) but a 280kg deadlift would require a miracle Tongue but I like a challenge Cool plus there's the other events to consider. I'll wait and see. DO you get a T-shirt for entering? .....this could sway me! Tongue
What about you? Will Garry give it ago?

280 dead with hitching, adrenaline, etc could be nailed man, but even if not, no big shakes. Martin and Garry from the unit are both doing it, and their deadlifts are 225 and 200 just now Happy Bit of ground to make up. I'm sitting it out til 2010 though Happy No sure about t-shirts, think you might have to make the final to get one of them Grin

What no t-shirt? Unhappy . It's alot of ground to make up though and don't want to get in the habit of hitching , I'll decide nearer the time Wink as I'll need to get some events training in, would be good to get some more comp experience in though. Happy Good to hear Garry is giving it ago. Grin

Cheers JC, I probably will give it ago(decide nearer the time) as i'm off the weekend it's on so I'd probably go watch so may aswell take part as it's alot more fun Grin . Not much chance of a 280kg d/l by then but aslong as I think I have a chance of shifting the weights in the other events(don't need to finish them) then there's no reason not to have ago, it's all good experience Grin Wink plus maybe I could manage a little air time with 280kg Tongue Wink (I'll pass that crack pipe backGrin ).
Do you peak for a strongman comp, as in the same way you would for a powerlifting comp? If so how do you manage it? As in past comps I've done I've just turned up on the day and seen if I could do the events Confused without peaking strength wise. I burn out if I try peaking in the gym and doing events each week.

No mate, I just hammer the events for six weeks or more (if possible) before the comp. When i was training for BSM u105 last year, 320 yoke was a real struggle at the start, but I was flying with it by comp time

Only way to get better at the comp events is do them week in week out IMO

Thanks Joe, nice meeting you too and the drive back was torture getting stuck in 2/3hr traffic jams etc, was glad to get home eventually.

Steve Cumming won the 90's with 727.5kg????, so he's still the man to beat in the 90's in scotland but it was a pretty close class with the top 3 over 700kg. I'll see if I can post the results but i'm useless with computer's so don't hold your breathe.
