With the excitement surrounding Buzz's forthcoming delivery of bumper plates, it made me wonder: how do you chaps store these chunky fellas? On shop-bought weight trees? On custom-made trees? On the toast racks that WLers seem to like? I'm thinking about upgrading my current solution and would welcome insights and experiences.

I've just bought a couple of weight trees, one for Oly plates and the other for standard plates.
Cost £40 each, problem solved.

Leaning against a wall? Flat on the floor? In a toast rack? Just wondering...

Thanks, Rob - QED. I guess that this places them at a useful height for quick loading onto a bar on the floor.

The toast racks are very neat but the slots on them have a habit of being about 2mm narrower than the disc you want to put in it!

This is what I seem to remember - or, mutatis mutandis, the slots were wastefully bigger than the plates. But I haven't used one in a few years. Dunno whether it would be the best use of my limited floor-space either, not least as I do relatively little work where the bar is on the floor. I currently have a Powertec tree, which is pretty much at the limits of capacity, and has the disadvantage of being in one corner, whereas two storage locations would place the plates rather closer to each side of the bar (not a big deal, but if an upgrade is required, it's an angle worth considering). If I'd thought of it way back when, I could have got something useful built onto my rack, space permitting.

In terms of trees, the handiest design that I've seen is the Eleiko one, which at least has 4 pegs for full-diameter bumpers. I'm sure that I could get somebody to knock something similar together at a more sensible price (I'd add a couple of modifications - add a vertical peg on top for collars, and a length of upright tube on one of the base legs as a bar holder).

Just musing...

I like this idea, I have olympic plates strewn all over my garage at the minute and have been looking at something for a while.

I was actually thinking of getting hold of some scaffolding pole, drilling several suitable sized holes in the breezeblock wall and securing bits of pole in a suitable area with enough room to put 3/4 plates on each one... bit extreme but f**k it...
