I never trust anyone with a joint FB account. Don't they trust their other half? You never know who you're commenting to, either.

I've had quite a few conversations that started "I saw on Facebook the other day...." so I am guessing so, yes. Happy

So you're not even with the GF who wouldn't let you pay? What does your current fiance think of your dedication of your word to your ex?

Anyway, you've redeemed yourself with your charitable donation - good man.

Now, please, no more World Record attempts in sports you don't even do - or there might have to be money put on it!! Tongue

In pauls defence (he paid his debt, more or less, so im comfortable defending him) he made the promise to his mother, not his ex.

On a related note though, if she was the kind of woman that thought honouring your word and paying your debt was 'daft' you are certainly better off rid of her.

I just hope she doesn't react badly to getting chucked and slashes the gazebo or something.

Fair play Paul. I give a good bit to charity when I can. Especially to children. I had a 6 year old relative die of cancer recently. These family's really suffer when something like this happens.

Good on you and the other poster that donated. Every little helps and it takes decent people to make a difference.

Very well played by Paul, here. He's being praised to high heaven for getting arm-twisted into giving money to charity instead of welching on a bet like he planned to. He's much better off now than if he had just paid up like a man of his word. Funny how these things work.

I think you are forgetting that he'd promised his mum.

The man he owed money to is not bothered, so nobody else needs to be. The money went to a great cause, regardless how it went about.

I also want to commend Sparrow for being happy his owed debt, played a part of this good gesture.

Absolutely! His £100 was diverted away from himself and he never batted an eyelid and even commended Paul for doing so. What a good man.
