Come on Paul clearly all this lifting all day doesn't do anything.... if it did, then surely with all the work you've done and extra lifting youd have already pulled 300kg, logged 130+ and qualified for a national level comp

No because it's not that kind of lifting. Rarely would i deadlift anything upwards of 200k in the hands and rarely overhead anything upwards of 100k. 400kg tyre flips, 180kg stone loads no tacky can do no training, these and anything grip related things are what it gets the strongest, yoke, farmers, loading, front carries etc i still need to do a lot of gym training for the gym lifts. Also got to keep in mind i am naturally weak and most people on a load of gear never come near 300k deads.

Yes and you have trained with far less than 0.1% of people who take gear. I have seen guys that are 300lb muscle heads struggling like f**k with 180kg deadlifts. It's not so easy to pull 300kg when you start at 60kg and have a long back like me if you are not taking a bunch of stuff. Possible? Sure, but it certainly is not an easy task.

Exactly and this is my point, Paul used his work 'lifting' to give weight to his point about knowing what he can do on a deadlift from warmups alone.... but none of his work lifting was actually deadlifting.

So the 30000 hours of his work lifting is absolute irrelevant to his deadlift training and he had no need to reference it. Or, if it is relevant then it raises the question of why he's so weak after so many hours lifting... (relatively weak in relation to the time invested, not absolute).

Paul, my posts aren't adding anything to your journal and i'm starting to come across as a tit without it being intentional.

Where I was trying to head with it, is the need for specificity for specific strength.

The only thing specific I've ever seen you do is grip training; and to no surprise you have an amazing grip.

But then for other standard lifts that you have goals for... you don't train with specificity and the results speak for themselves.... like just a standard deadlift, or god forbid I say it, a mk1 standard squat?

Yes it was, i can garentee i have done way more deadlifts in work than you have on a bar. I said it's rare they go over 200kg so it's not going to get me deadlifting 300kg.

If it's not on a bar, with discs... then it's not a deadlift which will absolutely, 100%, improve your deadlift on a bar with discs.... which goes back to my point of specificity.

If so, thats like someone who goes for a s**t 5x a day, saying they guarantee they squat more times at home than I ever have in a gym... just lighter and on to a toilet.

Specificity. Even the slightest variance is a different skill, so your work isn't specific, which is my point... you don't have a big deadlift, regardless that it's only 200kg of carpet... its coz it's picking up a carpet and not a deadlift!

I have done loads of standard squats and deads. Honestly your results are f**king s**t for squats and deads if mine are as bad as your implying. 5kg more than me on deadlift and i have done 200kg squat beltless x 10, how many more can you do? You are a powerlifter with much less rom you should be lifting far more if i'm so terrible.

You obviously don't know the difference between relative and absolute. You are strong by any standard, but in relation to 30000 hours of training you are weak.

Obviously, I'm s**t, that's why everyone I know lifts more than me...come off it mate.
ROM can be changed with stance and grip width.....

Any how, I suffer from Lymes Disease, was born with malformed hips and was expected to never walk properly, have sciatica, and never taken a banned substance in my life.
I could still hold my own in any World Powerlifting Championship within any fed (not saying I'd podium, but I'd be ok), and I am still improving.

If that makes me weak 'for a powerlifter', then f**k it... I agree. But in relation, you are heavy, have taken juice, and trained grip. Beyond that, you aren't a strength athlete... pure and simple.

AMH has squatted 290 beltless until basically his ass touches his ankles. Are you f**king serious?

edit. I can't be arsed. I'm trying to promote specific training for specific gains, but you took offence (maybe rightly so, as I was abrupt). We'll leave it there Paul.
