Because if i go off balance forward in order to keep stable i have to put pressure on the frontbof the foot which hurts it. In the smith however it cant go forward.

I don't really see how you would stagger around with a strict standing press though

Do you think you could strict press 100kg on a free barbell?

Its not about stumbling around, you have to tense the foot to keep still.

Yes.

Did it about 5 months ago i think. Was told can take months to heal so is not surprising with mine being a double one an the fact that am not really able to ever rest it. Nowt more i can do to speed up the process than what am already doing so it is what it is.

Paul, I broke my foot in 3 places, x-rayed and confirmed (not guessed), it made a loud crack too and it didn't take that long to heal up.

I think you should be very concerned that it's not yet sorted, I fear they may have to amputate it if it doesn't mend over the next 5 months.

I'll pray for your recovery.

I think it would do your foot some good if you did loads of warm ups. You might be surprised, Paul.

wow so glad my compound fracture of the ankle that had to be fixed with a metal rod/plate and screws only took 2 months before I was lifting again...

must be real bad seeing as stress facture should heal within 6-10 weeks. surprised the docs haven't sent you to a specialist to look at internal fixings.

Google says it can take anywhere from few weeks to a year+ so obviously depends on the individual. I think it would be fine in 4 weeks if i could rest it but has never been an option.

well all I know is if you really wanted to squat OHP Deadlift on it you would find away. Those that can do, those that cant.... (insert relevant quote here).

Yes.

What happens if you don't tense your foot, do you fall over or something?

I would have thought that gravity alone would have kept you upright without you needing to grip the earth with your toes. Grin

I tried to carry on like normal and all it did was make it worse so you have to do what you can and not be an idiot.
