I had it 18months ago, only effected cardio, i.e. prolonged repeated use. So I bought a jumpers knee band for cardio which helped loads.

As with all connective tissue injuries it healed very slowly.

I used a Cho-Pat strap which sort of worked - My injury was from overuse through running & cycling (main culprit from over extending the knee 'cos my saddle was too high) - Am an ex triathlete!

My physio recommended squats / single leg squats with heels raised as part of my treatment .... and that's what got me into lifting lol

Has this gel worked well for those guys who were trying it? Any side effects?

When mine used to flare up I Voltarol it and sleep with tubigrip calf to thigh for compression. Works for me but have to leave anything explosive for a while. Also my training partner used to wear a neoprene sleeve and tie a length of knee wrap round where the patella strap went during sets, much tighter than the straps.

I use the rapi-gel wee jim. it works fine. some pain is just beyond the ability of magic gel to alleviate. combine with daily dosage of voltaren & knee sleeves for best results. i don't know what side effects you're looking for? won't grow a horse cock, no matter how much you wish for it.

Missed this thread.

My patellas were pretty f**ked at the start of the year, doing two comps within a couple of months a frequent squats f**ked them over royally. What helped me was properly performed box squats, sitting back on the box, shins vertical etc.

Fast forward a few months, zero knee pain. I don't even wrap knees on fridays, only when I'm going for a heavy squat and want the extra poundage.

I know that's a bit different but if you ain't got a competition any time soon then what's the harm in doing them for a couple months till your knees feel better?

You can also get a Doc to blast it away with a few injections, seems like not many know about them.

If its just slight tendonitis, loosening everything out - hammy, quad, hips, glutes, back can keep it at bay.

Single leg squats on a 45 degree slope but really focus on the deload, extremely slowly on the way down. Do 3 sets of 30 every night. Ice massage also helps rub across the tendon and try to break up the scar tissue. Lay off push pressing or any running or anything that aggravates it to much if you can't walk the next day you've done to much. Work up the strength back in the tendon before going back to any harsh exercises. Double ply sleeve helped me and also patella tendon strap.
