Ben absolutely destroyed 105's this year, Only dan was in touching distance of him. He also was one of the most consistent Open strongmen in the country.
Why would you compete against guys who cant beat you and by doing that it will also limit your chances of going to WSM. Unless his goal isn't to qualify for worlds?

Personally, if I was Ben.

I would love the feeling of destroying the field year on year. It's also not everyone's cup of tea to put a load of weight on which doesn't make them feel good so I can understand if he stays in 105s and continues to steam roll.

That's just my 2 pennies worth Grin

The question is how does he want to be remembered in the sport, as the athletic guy who couldn't cut it in the opens, because that's how it will look in years to come, or does he want to be remembered as the 110 guy who dominated both weight divisions domestically and cut it with the big dogs overseas...

Big fish in a small pond is a sad way to waste potential

Ben has done lots of open comps though, including plenty of wins. I'd say he does 'cut it' in the opens already.

Good to see a Wiganer in the mix.

Phil is actually a friend of mine from school and is a great athlete. If he can get his static lifts up he'll be very dangerous
