![]() still a devious weightlifting bastard Member 43, 14379 posts | ...Theresa May has said regarding Britain’s stance on Brexit. ‘May told ministers that the government was clear that "Brexit means Brexit" although the new cabinet is now looking at the next steps’ It all seems a little haphazard for something of this scale and speaking as a typical pleb in the street it seems like not a lot is going on, or is likely to this year at least. Is this what you guys expected however you voted or is this pretty much par for the course? There were some passions about this as I recall which all seem to have dampened now, yet the majority voted for a change that hasn’t seemingly progressed much. Apologies in advance to any other pleb in the street who can make perfect sense of all this and may take offence at my potentially plebist comment. No offence intended.

However it seems those in charge are the same. I still see people who voted remain moaning, or upset with the outcome. I rarely see anyone who voted leave rejoicing now, or even talking about. The whole thing is a giant s**t storm... Many, including myself have no real idea of what is going on, or what the potential outcomes are.

Member 4923, 1795 posts | Doesn't article 50 have to be activated by October or something? There's bound to be more action in the coming months. In hindsight it was a very dumb decision by the British voters, if there was another referendum tomorrow remain would win by a mile

In hindsight it was a very dumb decision by the British voters, if there was another referendum tomorrow remain would win by a mile I agree, the result would change if the vote happened again tomorrow, however, most people voted leave due to the leave party's campaign which seemingly was mostly built upon lies. The leave campaign pulled the wool over the voters eyes... That seemingly has gone without issue. I still feel most people voted without any major information or knowledge... Not everyone is into politics, or has any real idea of how it works or what it involves. Many voted on a whim, or followed the herd. Most people I know voted remain because it was safer, while many others voted leave to make Britain great again, or because they wanted a change. Not many actually put a strong case forward for their reason to vote whatever way they did, and many formed their opinions on complete lies it seems.

It definitely seems like that could happen. No one seems to know what needs to be done to leave and it'll be such a long process that public opinion/the governments stance on it/the party in power could all change dramatically during it.

Every EU leader has made it clear that its not a long process. Enact article 50. Leave. May and the London Centric media is trying to make it drawn out as they are pro-stay and hoping it all goes wrong and she can have a do-over. Why else would she put Borris in charge of diplomacy. The only member of the ruling elite I can think of who would be worse worse at diplomacy is Prince Philip. What will take time is post EU UK will need to enact lots of laws to replace 50 years of EU law. Also any trade negotiations post membership will be a minefield. However these are both things GBNI cannot do within the EU. In the interim its like watching some to long married couple row where one partner threatens to leave and the other says fine. Then the first hovers around acting awkward.

I get perpetually sick of people saying "Remain said everything would go wrong when we left the EU, nothing has changed so Leave were right about it all being Project Fear". Given that we haven't left the EU or even properly begun to leave then this is utter nonsense. Two main issues are that nobody with any power/influence expected Leave to win. So there was no Leave plan. The other big issue is now we have voted to Leave we have realised that it will be large undertaking to review every single relevant law and trade agreement. The government have also realised that they have no trained negotiators and set about hiring them. If you think that the British government will negotiate well then have a think about PFI and how well that has worked out.
