I bent my bar slightly today so am considering asking Father Christmas for a new bar, any recommendations? I was thinking maybe the Texas power bar from strength shop;

https://www.strengthshop.co.uk/weights-bars/bars/olympic-bars/texas...

Anyone got one? I need to store it in my shed so it needs to be resistant to rusting ideally.

Or maybe this one?

When I said to my other half I wanted a new bar for Christmas she must have assumed they were around £20, she nearly had a coronary when I told how much the bars I was looking at were ha ha.

I'd the evolution bar (previously called bas***d bar.) Its lovely to deadlift. Bit easier on the hands than the Texas and has some whip.

I've had the wolverson Bison bar for about a month. So far so good. Performing well at the moment.

They do look pretty nice and the hybrid bar is a very reasonable price.

Do you keep yours in a shed or garage at all? I had to give a strength shop black bar away as it was getting too rusty in my shed, I googled the black zinc oxide finish on the wolverson bar and apparently it's pretty rust resistant but if someone had some experience with it that would be handy.

You know you can clean bare metal with a wire/brass brush?

How about the Rouge Ohio:

http://www.rogueeurope.eu/the-ohio-bar-eu

£267 including vat for what is reputedly at least as good a power bar as the Texas.

Yep but if I can avoid buying a bar that requires scrubbing all through winter I will go for a non-rusting one. I've never had a problem with my now sadly bent bar, which is why I gave my other bar to my brother in law, and I now feel too bad to ask for it back!

Cheers for the bar recommend Alex, would go for that before the Texas bar.

My black wolverson bar lives in the garage and has no signs of rust on it. It's a decent bar for the money, I'm happy with it.

I think the wolverson hybrid bar has won out.

Cheers for everyone's input, I now have to convince the better half that this is more important than bills or food somehow.

Sorry for slow reply, looks like you've made your decision.

Yeah keep it in my garage, I've just been following the instructions on the website. Which is basically clean it and put some anti rust stuff on it once a week.

Mines crome not black tho. Think they recently changed

There's been a few guys really rating the Wolverson bars on here before, I couldn't believe the price of them when I looked them up.

Wolverson hybrid bar is s**t. Thicker than a decent bar. Knurling not great

It has loads if spin on the sleeves, and feels naff in the hand.

Never used their Bison bar.

Get the bar you can afford. Circa 400 for a decent bar. 700 plus for a very good bar.

If you want a powerlifting spec bar ivanko do a comp bar for 700.

Actually sorry I made a mistake it is there standard (GT?) bar I have used not the hybrid bar.

However as the hybrid bar is around the same price, approx 170, both bars won't be great.
