At our comp up in Aberdeen yesterday we had a max deadlift and as the thread title suggests set a new scottish u90 deadlift record as the previous record was a default 220kg as there hadn't been a max deadlift in a comp with a standard bar and standard plates before. The standard was very high and the comp finished with 3 guys, Stuart Yule, Phil Robertson and Jeremy Vickers getting 290kg for a share of the new record. The event was done PL style with 3 attempts and I think all 3 guys may have been capble of more if they had more attempts with Phil in particular making his 290kg pull look far to easy. All 3 guys should be at SSM u90 in 3 weeks where there is another max deadlift and this one is last man standing so expect to see the record go up by a fair bit there.

Below is a video of Stuarts pull, unfortunately I didn't get videos of Phil and Jeremy's pulls, and there is also the axle between Stuart and Jeremy on the end as well as Stuart's yoke.

Are there many 300kg+ u90 pullers in Scotland?

I think that Phil, jeremy and stuart are all capable on a good day for the u90s. And going by yesterdays effort Phil could be good for well over 300kg.

Superb lifting from all 3. Although I think normally who ever broke the record 1st would be the record holder, the other 2 only equalled the record?

I train with Ross Harkins who pulls 300s at 87kg-89kg. Ross is an inspiration to train with and watch.
Good job to the guys. Great stuff Happy

Inspiring to watch and Phil in particular made it look so easy, I would think he is easily good for 300+.
The standard of u90 in general is really high at the minute, its almost at the stage where 300 is the standard deadlift for a top 3 finish.

This. Think there are 7+ guys in the UK capable of it right now?

If we are going on who lifted first then I think it would be jeremy but if it's lighter bodyweight then phil.

In that case jeremy as he won the comp overall, however I don't see any problem letting them share the record as they all lifted within about a minute of eachother and were all within 1.5kg weight wise.

Bit of a moot point anyway as there is a last man standing max deadlift at ssm u90 in 3 weeks so tjere will be a new record there for sure. My money will be on Phil to take it but could be any of the three guys.
