What's the point of these? I drove through the Dartford Tunnel late the other night and noticed there is a minimum speed of 10mph. If there was a traffic jam you'd be unable to comply with this. If there was free flowing traffic who would choose to drive at slower than 10mph? If I was caught doing 9mph what could happen? Fine? Points on licence? Get sent on a course to learn about the importance of going fast enough? Struggling to see the purpose, especially in this example.

Also, don't you think that buying ice creams is an awkward business? Unless they have those slots to put them in, they hand you the ice cream and then you have to pay with one hand and, if applicable, receive and deal with your change with one hand. When buying multiple ice creams, things can be even more of a juggling act. I can't fully enjoy my ice cream with my change just shoved in my pocket. I like it to be zipped safely away within my wallet (must be an OCD thing).

Thanks for reading. Yes I know, this sort of stuff is ruining Sugden.

Thanks for the link Pete. I still don't see the point of the signs at the Dartford Tunnel. You move with the traffic. If there's no traffic you don't crawl along extremely slowly! You don't need a sign to tell you that.

There are far too many signs for far too many obvious things. If I had my way they'd all be removed and replaced with one massive sign that would simply read 'DON'T BE A c**t!'

Mr Travis, I imagine your giant sign would be particularly reflective and would be positioned so that it was reflecting vast quantities of sunlight onto (and thereby ruining) a particular display of cheeses? The wording would be appropriate too, loarl.

Anyone wish to comment on the issues attached to the purchasing of ice creams? I forgot to mention premature dripping.

In my experience as an ice cream purchaser it is a minority who have the slots. Also, plenty of sellers are female.

I know nothing about them, but I'm not a fan of tunnels(*) and bridges in general.

what are your thoughts on the Thames tidal barrier vs the Hull tidal barrier?

iv always wondered about tidal barriers. The tide is high so they activate the barrier, but then that happens to the water from the river? the barrier is now a dam and the river is now a reservoir.

Also supposing this didn't happen, what about the areas that are on the tidal side of the barrier?

Agreed.

In fact that could be applied to almost everything in life.
