I've just moved into uni accommodation, and unfortunately don't have an oven. Was thinking of getting on of those combi grill microwaves. Does anyone have any experience with them? How do they work? what can you do with them?

From experience grilling on those types of microwaves tends to pretty crap. Best to get a good sized George Foreman style grill and a steamer to use for your meats and veg, cooking rice and even veg (frozen veg is better in this case) and stuff like that can be all done on a regular microwave anyways.

Really?? You obviously missed it in the noisy neighbor thread then! Grin

In regards to microwave grills I found they always seem to be super complicated and I've only ever used the actual microwave facility. Maybe I am a thick bas***d?!

before you buy it you had better do an extensive series of tests on the product or you may get called a Harold-james-non-tester-tim

As I suspected grill microwaves probably aren't worth it then, I'll just get a regular one i guess.

Will defo have to get a slow cooker, have one at home and probs used it more than the oven anyway.

and, jackrevans, I have literally no idea what you are talking about. Roll-Eyes Grin

Sim, Get a George foreman grill.

Can put it away/on top of cupboards when not using it.

Its apparent that men do not know a thing about cooking at all. Stick to the George Foreman--cant mess up anything other than it can taste like you are eating leather if you over cook....
