Funky_monkey | Meniscal tear - which supplements will help with cartilage damage? | 15-11-2012 @ 16:43
403 forbidden message Member 160, 5120 posts SQ 190, BP 137.5, DL 225552.5 kgs @ 86kgs UnEq | Been diagnosed with a degenerative tear of the medial meniscus SO my question is: Does anyone know of any supplements that can actually REPAIR damaged cartilage? MSM/Glucosamine and Chondroitin/Fish oil, or is it all too little to make much difference? I'm assuming I should be doing sets of 8-12 instead of 1-5?

Possibly 10g of glutamine before bed. What you really need is to increase igf-1 and Growth hormone production. Possibly have a google of occulsion training technigues. Some studies have indicated and 3 fold increase in GH production using this technique. Pretty intense/painful xercise though.

hermit Member 3904, 988 posts | Not sure about tears, but but general arthritis style wearing out of the cartilage has been shown the be helped by simply eating cartilage (collagen) in your diet. Chewing on knuckles, bones, gelatinous animal derivatives... http://www.nutritionadvisor.com/Trentham_Oral_Collagen_RA_Scie... Glucosamine & Chondroitin are supposed to help the knee (and only knee) cartilage hold fluid better, so be more thick and resilient.

I'll also stock up on haribo and Rowntree's strawberry jelly!
