Been diagnosed with a degenerative tear of the medial meniscus SO my question is:

Does anyone know of any supplements that can actually REPAIR damaged cartilage? MSM/Glucosamine and Chondroitin/Fish oil, or is it all too little to make much difference? I'm assuming I should be doing sets of 8-12 instead of 1-5?

No supplements really. Possibly 10g of glutamine before bed. What you really need is to increase igf-1 and Growth hormone production. Possibly have a google of occulsion training technigues. Some studies have indicated and 3 fold increase in GH production using this technique. Pretty intense/painful xercise though.

quick before the thread gets locked, does glutamine actually help injuries recover faster? it kind of seems like one of those things that should work in theory but actually makes no difference

Not sure about tears, but but general arthritis style wearing out of the cartilage has been shown the be helped by simply eating cartilage (collagen) in your diet. Chewing on knuckles, bones, gelatinous animal derivatives...

Glucosamine & Chondroitin are supposed to help the knee (and only knee) cartilage hold fluid better, so be more thick and resilient.

Do you know what the levels normally are so I know what triple this amount is?

Skate (the fish) might work. I'll also stock up on haribo and Rowntree's strawberry jelly!

what i read on rep ranges is 1-12 promotes testosterone production, and 12-20 promotes growth hormone production. i think the differance of rep ranges within the 1-12 range is just to do with different hypertrophy.

not 100% but do a bit of research into it if your interested
