Your total from last year counts as a qualifier because it's within 12 months of this competition.

You will have to join the GBPF as well which is 40. I'm not doing it this year as I really don't see the point in shelling out 40 to join, 20 to compete plus probably another 200 to travel and stay down south.

I'm not doing the seniors this year again - want to get this referee course done and also focus on a build up cycle for my deadlift and bench. I've gotten to grips with squats now as I've found something that works.

So now, it's eat, drink and find wenches. lol

Wenches is the scary part be on the look out for STDs.

First session back after the comp on Sunday.

DEADLIFT

Defecits standing on top of a 15 and 25k disc.

Speed sets from floor

Couldn't believe just how easy the speed sets felt. Here's hoping this routine gives me the progression in deadlift I have been missing the past couple of years.

6@155 totally raw. Should maybe have started at 150. Ah what the hell - I did it.

Singles submax so no spotters and easy stuff.

Tried new hand positioning on bench. Line was inconsistant as a result. Felt it more in my shoulders too Unhappy

BENCH

3x6@105

3x6@65 speed - maximum width - not comfortable.

People's squat technique and strength seem to be improving session on session just now - Allen is getting the technique working now and Martin got yet another squat pb. Easily a 170 there in a few weeks time!

Worked up to 6 @ 100 maximum width - felt much better than Tuesday but still not quite right.

Wider grip on bench seems to be working now and I feel more "locked in" throughout the movement and my line is better than last week. Will be interesting to see how far I can go with the 6x6.

Your sets were looking strong tonite mate, I'm also thinking of moving my grip out maybe middle finger on the ring with new the new hand position if my shoulder can take it, the last set I did felt good.

This'll be a funny one - the shortest guy in the gym with the widest grip. Even Allen is moving his in now. If I can get up above 6x6@112.5 (done 5x6@115) then I'll know the new hand positioning is definitely working for me. Last night I felt totally different through set up to completion of each set - just so much more stable and my arch held a lot easier. 105 6x6 on Saturday me thinks.

I know what a bugger a shoulder problem can cause on the bench - hence why I haven't been wider than pinkies on rings for so long. As long as you make the transition gradually it should be fine though. Happy

DEADLIFT

3x3 @ 165 raw on 25 and 15k plates then 2x3 same weight from same height belted

BENCH

2x3 @ 105

I know that the weights I'm using for deadlift are higher than they should be as I'm basing the percentages on my 1rep max from the floor. I'm going to dispense with the 15k plates from next week as when I had to put the belt on I found it very difficult to get down to the bar. I'll keep the 15s there for the warm up sets though, and maybe add them back in for the sets after the triples. 7 more weeks on this programme then test my 1rep max. Hopefully be higher than the 220 I'm basing this cycle on.
