Just new to the site - finally been convinced to join. It was great to see myself being described as "that lunatic Bryan Riddell" for my squat routines.
Got a comp in a few weeks time and having just recently come back from a bout of illness am quite happy with the way things are going.
This week so far...

TUES

Squats - 2 triples at 185k then walkouts and 5 second paused quarter squats at 230k and 240k.
Bench - 2 triples at 122.5k

Here's hoping things stay on track till the 25th.

Bryan you crazy sum b**ch! Good to see a journal up!

Your building back up well after the illness, some tasty lifts coming up at the unequipped!

Ps. Thanks for the coaching and tips of late, they have been excellent!

No worries mate - want to see you do the best you possibly can. Happy

My neck is still tight from yesterday. Maybe doing those bridges after pulling the traps wasn't such a smart move eh?

I'll be looking for some coaching on my deads tomorrow...and you're it Wink Your avatar picture - it could almost be me except for the white socks and the amount on the bar. lol

Deadlifting yesterday. My 3rd week back at it. Week one I struggled to single 180k - I havn't really trained deads since the British unequipped last October. I think I've done about 8 deadlift sessions since then including the 3 over the past 3 weeks.
So yesterday I was happy with a triple at 180 then a single at 200. Not massive numbers for my bodyweight, but deadlift is my weakest lift. I'm targetting 210 - 215 on the 25th so that I'll be almost back to my best form for it.

Bench - 2 triples at 122.5 then a single at 125 so bench is coming back. The triples felt easier than they did on Tuesday Happy

Cheers Toby. Happy

Training today was a weird one. Missed some targets while exceeding others.

SQUAT

2 X 1 @ 190 (should've been doubles)

Walkout and quarter squat at 240

Walkout at 250 Grin

1 X 3 @ 180

1 x 3 @ 155 raw to warm down

BENCH

1 X 2 @ 125

1 X 3 @ 125

1 X 1 @ 127.5

The bench was supposed to be 2 doubles at 125 today so that made up for not getting the doubles at 190 on squat. The strongest I've ever been on bench for triples was 127.5k. I might, all going well, get back to at least doubles with this prior to the competition.

All in all I'm happy with how my progress has been since getting back to things.

Steel's squats are looking better this week and I reckon once the low bar is working there's easily a 210 there... Dammit, gotta keep pushing harder to up my own. lol

What are you talking about Bryan, it was a 250 full squat, just the camera cut out after the walk out! Grin

I've got more work to do before that becomes a reality mate! Also I recon you will be good for a 210 soon enough!

Benching went really well today mate, it's coming back fast session to session!

Good to see you started a journal Bryan! Seems I'll have to read what you've done as your usually finishing or going just as I'm coming into the Palace.

Ross - lol - yeah, just as I'm off work just now so I'll be in early the next 5 weeks or so then back to later times again I think. As I said to you today I was just in to spot for Allen and did some messing about.

SHOULDER PRESS (SEATED)

6@40, 6@45, 6@50, 6@55, 3@57.5, 4@57.5, 5@57.5

Haven't been up as high as 57.5 in many years - was apprehensive to do pressing movements above head with anything too heavy since my shoulder went out. If I get up to 60k that'll be a new alltime pb...

Also did some dips, couple of sets of rows and bridges with a 20k on me - be 25k next week. My neck feels a lot better this week and I definitely think doing the bridges is helping Happy

As for my comment about Steel and wanting him to achieve his potential - that's true of all the guys I train with - I'm happy when people get targets. I just wish I'd started the powerlifting at a younger age...

DEADLIFT

2@190 (could have done 3 and considering 4 weeks ago and 4 dead sessions ago I couldn't single this I'm happy)

BENCH

2 X 2 @127.5 (felt like I could have tripled these as well)

A good day.

Allen got an impressive triple at 235 today.

I'm going to start chasing a single of 125 after this comp is out the way.

Your deadlift and bench looked great today buddy, your strength is coming back great at exactly the right time!

I assume you mean a single at 225 and not 125 lol???Grin

Erm, well, I meant a seated shoulder press of 125k really lol.

Yeah, 225 is what I meant - didn't check my entry before posting it. Yeah, the strength coming back like this is a very pleasant surprise - I thought I would be lucky to shoot for a 125 bench a few weeks ago and a 190 dead. Was looking back at numbers from last year - squat is ahead this year and bench and dead are now almost exactly the same as last year.

Looking forward to Tuesday now Happy

Another good day - makes up for last Tuesday.

SQUAT

2 @ 190

1@ 200

1/4 @ 250

walkout @ 260

BENCH

2 x 2 @ 130

Was happy with performance today. Both Steel and Martin were looking good with their squats as well. I'm barely ahead now - going to have to push a bit harder now dammit! lol
