I'm going to finally fill one of these sandbag shells i've got lying around. I'm hoping to make a sandbag around 80-100kg. I'll eventually have 3 varying in weights.

I'm not sure that amount of sand will fit in the sandbag, so what else can i use to increase the weight? gravel?

Also which is the best sand. Childrens play sand? Building sand? other sand? Does it matter which?

I'm going to get the sand from Wickes i think, if that's what you were asking. Or did you mean something else?

100k of sand should cost about 8 quid.
Even bags of b and q sand is a couple of quid and come in 25kg bags I think. I just used builders sand.

Kiln dried sand (used for patio grouting) might be worth looking at - slightly more expensive but it's not an expensive item as such .

If the sand isn't dry, make sure it doesn't spill inside the bag or it will make more of a mess.

Depending on the size of the shell, plain sand should get it up to 100kg. I've got 85kg in my strengthshop sandbag with room to spare.
