Right - Due to peer pressure I'm starting a training log!

Current goals are to hit an unequipped total of 670kg for the WDFPA World Championships in November, and to be pushing 700kg by the end of next year.

I'm also going to be keeping my hand in a strongman events and hope to get 2 solid sessions in a month.

Current comp pb's are

Squat - 255kg
Bench - 145kg
Deadlift - 250kg

I've lifted more in the gym since then though.

I may be altering my training shortly but for the moment I'm following the same routine as I have done for the last few months

Tuesday 29th June 2010 - Legs

Felt knackered so far this week. The u90's Endland finals and then my little PB day last week have taken their toll on me, so today was supposed to be a gentle leg session - How wrong I was, every rep felt like hell!

Squats

Warm-up

4 x 185kg
4 x 185kg
4 x 185kg

First two sets felt awkward, last set kind of felt ok.

2 x 212.5kg
2 x 212.5kg

These felt like I was trying to double 240! - My legs must be very tired.

185 x 8

Hard work but they all went up.

Leg Press

290kg x 15
290kg x 15

I currently don't have any more weight so am repping out on this at the moment

Leg Extension - Plate Loaded

55kg x 14
55kg x 12 / 40kg x 9 / sissy squat x 15

Lying leg curl - Plate Loaded

37.5kg x 8
37.5kg x 7
37,5kg x 6

Stiff Leg Deads - Double Overhand

140kg x 5
140kg x 5
140kg x 5

Toe Press and Seated Calf Raise

4 sets of each

All in all an easy session that ended up being very taxing - My body needs a little rest I think.

Chest and Arms

I've been proper exhausted this week, to the point where I'm still passing out withing 5 minutes of sitting on the sofa with a good 500mg of caffeine coursing through my veins....
I know I need to get more sleep (I only get around 5.5 - 6 hours at the moment) but I can normally function on that. Hopefully it's just the last couple of weeks catching up with me.

I'm also still very sore from my "light" leg session Tuesday Unhappy

Anyway tonight's garage session was late (22:00) and solo

Chest

Bench Press

Warm up

110kg x 4
110kg x 4
110kg x 4

125kg x 2
125kg x 2

110kg x 2

All felt ok

Incline DB Press

40kg x 10
40kg x 8

No done these in a dogs ages so was a little unsteady

Incline Db Flyes

25 x 9
25 x 8

Bi's

Incline DB Curls

25 x 7
25 x 5 / 15 x 8

Axle Curls

47.5kg x 8
47.5kg x 7

Hammer Curls

20kg x 9
20kg x 7

Tri's

Close Grip Bench Press

110kg x 5
110kg x 5
110kg x 5

French Press

40kg x 10
40kg x 8

Bench Dips
BW x 15
BW x 15
BW x 15

I also crammed in a few strict presses at the end but can't remember what weight I used

All in all not too bad considering I don't really feel human at the moment. With any luck I'll have a little more fire in my belly for deadlifts on Saturday.

Macca youre a beast! Your quads remind me of some of the olympic cyclists. Good luck with the training log. You train with quite high volume, have you always trained that way?

Hello mate,

The volume thing is a direct result of training at a bodybuilding gym during my formative years Roll-Eyes

I've been thinking about dropping it slightly, but when you know something has worked for you it's hard to take that leap.

It's also got some benfits e.g. I think the reason I've been able to transition to strongman is that I do train with pretty high volume so I've not really had to worry about my conditioning.

The flip side is that I'm not getting any younger and I seem to be taking longer and longer to recover....
