Not sure which it is. Pain just to the right of my spine above ass cheek. Thinking it's possibly Si joint. Had it on and off for years but not for a while till today. Was squatting and felt a crack/crunch along with some pain at the bottom of my heavyest squat of the day. Would Si joint problem feel like a crunch? If not, what could it be. Same pain I saw a Physio about 6 years or so back. He thought it was L4/5 wear and tear.
Any thoughts.

It could be something that is contributed by wear and tear

You do a lot of walking everyday as well as heavy lifting

So there is that posdibility

True. Good point. Although when the problem started I wasn't walking a lot. Also wondering if my super tight right hip could somehow contribute to the problem, as its on the right side. As well as wondering if yesterday's heavier than normal kb swings have tired the joint/area out a bit and made it more susceptible to injury.

I had SI issues on the right hand side about 8 or 9 years ago. Ended up seeking Chiropractor treatment which after a few session and lowering weights and building back up sort the problem. Not had any issues (with that anyway) since.

It's hard to see how having a super tight right hip wouldn't cause you some problems at one point or another.

Agree.
Any excess tightnesss will cause problems in other areas, as it will cause your posture to alter thereby increasing stress in other areas.
In my case it was shortening of the hams, quads and piriformis causing pelvic tilt.

Cheers everyone.
Although the hip isn't so bad that it effects walking. Just squatting and similar.

I have never (and never will - touch wood) suffered with SI problems however found this a very interesting read the other day:

http://breakingmuscle.com/mobility-recovery/why-your-si-joint-...

To quote specifically:

Whoever wrote this article said:
A fantastic study completed by Dr. Stuart McGill looked at the forces transmitted to the SIJ during a 27kg squat. He found the total force transmitted to this SIJ during this activity was 6.5 kN - which is enough to lift a small car off of the ground!

What this actually translated to was 1,461 pounds of force going through the SIJ. And that was with a smaller lift of only 27kg. Now imagine what’s happening in our powerlifter friends who are lifting significantly more load than that.
