Lol very true.....took me a few months to truly get the hang of judging squats, as long as you know uow many reps you have, how you feel etc an experienced lifter should pick it up pretty quick.

I will check about those manuals, if you have any specific q's drop me an e-mail. There are quite detailed articles on the rts site too!

disappointing day at the office to say the least..

Nearly rescued a bad day with a PB pull, which would have nearly matched my PB total - that would have been an excellent result considering my overall performance.

Still, some positives - I wasn't 100% - but still had a chance of matching my best total, 140 was closer than ever and confident that will fall on a good day.

Surprising, considering your workouts in recent weeks.

Any changes from now on? Resort to a new coach and/or gluttony? Grin

Possibly, sent my thoughts over - I am only doing another 8 weeks with Mike, his prices are going up and I have learnt enough to go it alone now.

I have some ideas, will think over them for a while and come back!

Good idea.

I'm only half joking with the gluttony comment, but the most gains I've seen have come from manipulating my bodyweight up and down over the course of the year. Just standing still with the bodyweight really only gets you so far. Staying lean is the more comfortable choice in my opinion, as you don't have to put up with

1) Being uncomfortable and looking worse at a bloated bodyweight.
2) Having the discipline to diet back down.

But in terms of adding significant strength bulking up and cutting down is hard to beat.

all very true - I could have bombed..although I picked the right openers, so that wasn't in doubt. But yes, it could have been worse - cant PB all the time!

Faz, my BW was at 102.9 nekked...so gone up slightly, but not much. I have plenty of time now to play with things - next comp, if I decide to do it will be the English in Aug.

Based on what you said to me in email, maybe try to diet down a little now and hold on to your strength as much as you can. Then make another run at gaining back up to 100kg when you're in full swing again.

yeah I think that could be a shout, I have to concentrate on my MSc at the minute - got 3 weeks til my final exams, so that takes priority now.

After a few weeks of sketchy training and exams blah blah, started back at 'normal' training last night, was a little rough to say the least:

Squats w/belt[x5@10]:
(175x1)
180kg @10
170kg @9.5/10

Comp press[x5@10]:
(110x1)
120kg x4 @10
110kg @9
110kg @9.5

Block pulls(mid shin) [x3@9]:
190kg @8
210kg @9
190kg @9

Tech was a little off on squats, fatigued quite quickly on the bench...and block pulls - well that is my worst height by far..I am miles away from the bar and it takes an age to get moving...

Still, its a start, quite sore this morning! Cant wait for tonight...front squats, max reps in 12 mins Eek

Feeling the strain from yesterdays session..right pec was a little sore after a while and then triceps fatigued very quickly - perhaps needed to time the reps on the db's better.

front squat was horrible, I possibly undershot the weight somewhat, but I haven't done this movement for 2 years +

most certainly not, well, not at the minute anyway BRO.

I am injured @11. I hurt my back years ago playing rugby and its coming back to haunt me a little...I have some nerve impingement and disc issues.

I am getting treatment at the minute, with a view to slowly starting to lift again in the next month or so.

Sacked off the RTS for now, will sort my own stuff out when it comes and will also be re-learning the deadlift to improve my back position!

I will also be dieting down whilst training is minimal.
