Big fish in a small pond Member 1150, 2101 posts | Post Edited: 08.07.2013 @ 02:25 AM by RyanH After a great success last year with 13 athletes and over 300 people in the crowd watching including people walking past, we are once again putting on the Kernow Show of Strength in the center of Truro City in Cornwall. Great venue and support from the local council to run this event, looking to make it even bigger this year. Date: July 14th Location: Truro (Cornwall) Level: Intermediate Preliminary Events: Event Announcement for Kernow Show of Strength July 14th Event 1: Max Tyre Deadlift. The lift height will be a standard deadlift height the weight will start at approx. 210-220kg rising bar weight. Each athlete will attempt the lift. If the lift is successful the athlete will move into the next round. If the lift is failed, the athlete is out of the event. Each round, the weight will increase 10kg. The athlete has 60 seconds to make the lift. Once the bar has been limited, and is locked out, the referee will give the down command the bar must be controlled. Dropping the bar will result in a no lift. No suits are allowed. Straps and hitching are allowed. Event 2: Arm over Arm: Two vehicles will be attached by a rope. The leading vehicle will have a thick rope from it approx. 25m, on which the athlete will have to pull. The athletes will have a piece of wood that they are able to use to push off with their feet. The athlete has 60 seconds to complete the course by pulling the rope until the front vehicle crosses a line. Athletes that complete the course will be given a time. The fastest time will win. If the athlete does not complete the course, a distance will be given, with the furthest distance placing highest after those who complete the course. Event 3: Circus Dumbbell for Reps: Athletes will have a time limit of 75 seconds, in which to lift either a 53kg circus dumbbell or a 58kg circus dumbbell. 1 point will be awarded for every good repetition of the 53kg dumbbell and 2 points for every repetition of the 58kg. The athlete must be locked out, and under control, and wait for a good lift command from the referee before he can lower the dumbbell and start the next repetition. Each repetition must be completed from the floor, and only one hand may be used to press the dumbbell from the shoulder. Event 4: Frame Hold (Possibly head to head): The athlete will lift the frame weighing approximately 220-240kg off of blocks until they have locked out the weight, and they will hold on as long as possible. Once the athlete has dropped the frame, he will be given a time. The longest time wins. No straps are allowed. Event 5: Medley: Athletes will have to complete a 3 piece medley. First they must carry a 260kg super yoke 20m, allowing as many pickups as necessary. The super yoke must cross the line. The next implement will be a duck walk weighing 170-180kg, which must be walked 20m. Finally a giant keg must be carried the final 20m, and placed onto mats. Once hands are off the keg the athlete will be given a time. If the athlete fails to complete the course, a distance will be recorded. The time limit is 90 seconds. Event 6: Atlas Stone for Reps: The Athlete will have a choice of either a 100kg stone, which will give them 1 point per repetition, or a 130kg stone, which will give them 3 points per repetition. The stone most be lifted from the floor, and loaded over a 52inch high bar. If athletes are tied on number of points, the athlete with the most complete repetitions with the higher weighted stone will win the tie. The athletes will have 75 seconds, and are allowed to change between the heavy and the light atlas stones All events, weights, time limits, distances, and order of events are preliminary and are subject to change. Big fish in a small pond Member 1150, 2101 posts | Post Edited: 14.03.2013 @ 13:18 PM by RyanH Well deadlift is rising bar, giant dbs need to be tested but we think between 50-65 kg atlas stones will be somewhere around 100-140 for reps (two maybe 3 choices of stone) and medley will be more speed and conditioning, with a 500 total you will be strong enough Don't quote me on weights it all needs testing, but a very rough guide

Big fish in a small pond Member 1150, 2101 posts | Update: The Dumbbell event will now either be circus dumbbell for reps of a choice of two weights or a circus dumbbell medley consisting of 48,53,58,64kg dumbbells as the supplier for the giant dumbbells has had problems.
