Another excellent row, especially as you aren't used to being in the seat that long.

It's my arse that felt it most acutely too! I'm not sure if it's glute soreness yet, or sitting in the seat for an hour arse soreness Grin

That's the plan. I can go faster on the 60 minute distance if needed, and I think I'm aiming for about 1:16.30 to 1:17.00 for the HM.

Need to let the arse recover though - it's tender and that's with a seat pad too!

Had a tough 30r20 this evening. I put 170m onto my pb, with a final distance of 8422m, which is only 50m shy of my free rate 30 minute pb.

It wasn't too bad maintaining the rate throughout, but there wasn't much of a sprint in there at the end. The heart rate indicates that I was pushing fairly hard throughout.

Either way, very pleased to make this at r20. Next stop is 8500m at r20 Grin

Edit: just checked and my average HR was 1bpm lower on this than the last 30r20 pb, but my 500m split average was 2.2 seconds faster. Progress Grin

Cheers Millsy Grin

An enforced day off today. Out at work this morning, I had a stub axle on my little forestry forwarder snap off which resulted in a sudden 40cm drop to the left. I now have a slightly bashed left knee and a little lump on top of my patella. It's not serious, but resting up this evening.

I wasn't even felling. I was just parking the little machine (it's only 2 tonnes) and two of the 8 wheels basically fell off. Cumulative torsional stress on the stub axle resulting in sudden snappage. It happened on the other side last year and it's not too bad to fix (and it had the good manners to break on the hardstanding) but I'm annoyed about the knee. I had planned another couple of 30 minute rows this weekend to get me past 60k this week.

Ah well. Can't be helped.

I can't help but sense a degree of focus and commitment that perhaps wasn't there before - would I be correct to assume so?

I like what I'm seeing.

I think you're right. It's seeing week on week improvements without having to push myself into injury. I injure really easily and the weight training is something I love, but it's hard work to stay injury free.

I'm 120kg now. I can't see me losing much or any much by reducing the weight training. But I think I can get very fast on the C2 Grin

Not a great row tonight. Just a 140 bpm capped 30r20, but heart rate was not stable. A bit of a stressful day at work, along with 8km of forest walking and I couldn't keep the heart rate down. Oh well.

Right deltoid is bothersome too, though not when rowing. It's so incredibly frustrating to pick up these niggling injuries and have absolutely no idea how.

Anyway, tonight's row:

Many thanks. I must admit that I like the heart rate based training. Being a bit autistic with numbers means I enjoy watching and manipulating the heart rate by adjusting pace.

I did a 30r20, at what can probably be considered UT1. It was easy, and a bit counterintuitive (as I usually speed up through a row, as opposed to slow slightly to stay within the heart rate cap).

So capped it at 160bpm today.

Decent rowing this evening. I had planned to do a fast 30, but the 'handle down' demon was on my shoulder throughout. I had a decent headache when I started the row, which I reckon was due to the sudden weather change about 30 minutes before. A cold front charged through, blasted us with rain and the temperature dropped 6c in a few minutes. I've always been pretty sensitive to sudden weather changes, and it always results in a headache.

Anyway, did a 6k instead, as I've not recorded one yet. Made up the metres at the end with a 10r20 cooldown. I'm taking the 6k as 21:00.2, which is making the deduction for going 6m over. I was rowing at about 1:35 pace through the line.
