Pullup:

BW + 17.5 kg x 10 sets of 5

this took 35-40 mins today, which is too much as I do the pullups in 30 mins normally. It wasn't a sign of a struggle, just need to be stricter. Regardless, the weight is progressing

As the weight gets heavier, the reps become less consistent. Perfect reps are rarer, imperfect reps are more common. I can do 180s perfectly, 200s aren't as nice

That said, they were not grinders by any stretch

Ate 1000 calories the day before and was generally moderately ill. I thought I was well enough to train, and I was to an extent, only to crash when I got home. So excuse the lacklustre session below

Pause Bench:

Up to 130 kg x 3 , tough

DB Shoulder Press:

30 kg x 12
30 kg x 12
30 kg x 12

Easy as it should be, kept the weight low

Weighted Pullup:

+ 20 kg x 5,5,5,5,5

ended at 5 sets not 10 today

Did this without a mirror in prep for comp. They didn't feel as nice, but that's probably why.

Really shocked to fail the 3rd rep on what should have been the final set. I haven't failed a back squat rep in ~2 years. Essentially I set up a bit too wide, didn't rectify it after the first rep. 3rd rep, pitched forwards a bit and couldn't save it. But I was so annoyed by this. Shouldn't have happened, none of the other reps were hard

Did a single after (easy) to get the reps in.

Programme called for 9 reps, so I split the last set to get a hook grip rep in

Strength was a bit down on normal, the triples were harder than they should have been, hopefully that was just due to last week's virus.

Whilst form is locked down tight for anything under 180 kg, and generally solid in the 180 to 200 kg range, the heavier weights expose weaknesses

Did these without a spotter, but that isn't to say they were super easy (but they weren't difficult)

DB Press:

fat grip handle DBs here, hence the weight is modest

+37.5 kg x 1 PB (and 2 lame half reps)

BW x several sets of 5

Weighed 104.5 kg this morning, so call that 143.0 kg total (104.5 + 1 + 37.5)

And the below just because it was a strongman gym and it would be rude not to Tongue

Strict Log:

1 Rep (empty log, perhaps 80 kg?)

Then tried to lift a 58 kg inch DB, barely got it to my knees!
