Bell totalled 1170kg, with 370kg deadlift.

Why don't they use spotter horses with the straps on monolifts? One of the six spotters looks to make contact with the plates on the assend. Is that not a red light?

I don't follow anything squat related as most squat videos are just stupid...

But i don't understand why you would even need spotters if a monolift is designed to take the failed weight.

A lot of competitions - probably most - disallow the use of safety straps on monolifts.

So, you can get buried under the weight should you fail.

Why

I have been saying for years powerlifting would be better with no spotters, with all the modern contraptions to save lifters from untimely deaths as a spectacle just the lifter and the weights would look much better.

Maybe its time to add another fed to the soup.

Any idea why? The straps appear to be removed on the monolift in the above video.

I can only think that a) they deem it too dangerous for someone with 500kg to rely solely on the straps and then b) having spotters with straps is too dangerous in case a spotter gets caught up in said straps.

I think the reasoning is that there should not be anything touching the bar.

Pretty sure it would be an easy fix to design the straps so they didn't just flop down

I am 100% behind the idea of those nylon safety straps on monolifts.

In this age of 90kg+ lifters squatting 350+ kg, its only a matter of time before a lifter, or spotter, is catastrophically injured.

Unless you bottom out on them and Anderson Squat it back up, I can't see how they would be of any assistance.

"He must have gotten 10kg from those monowrap straps" should be your new title.

Hixxy with an easy 400 x 3 axel deadlift. Has to be top 10 most impressive deadlift sets ever, if not top 5?

Made better by the fact that the bar was misloaded and as a result, lopsided.
