thats because I made it up! willsan special.

Grin

its just a military press with the bar on your fingertips. you dont need much weight. I do sets of 6 with 22.5kg, 25kg and 27.5kg in my warmup routine.

I used to get sprained wrists quite often which really messed with my training so I was trying to think of a way to strengthen the wrist tendons and came up with that. it also has the benefit of increasing flexibility.

im sure it exists somewhere on the innernetz under a different name.

Kern US Open might be worth a look tomorrow at 4pm:

Dan Bell going for a 1200kg total.
John Hack going for a 90kg bench wr. He put 264kg up on his Instagram and would total 11 times body weight if he does it in competition, according to Barbend.

Old video but I found this quite impressive:

90kg x 10 kettlebell press by a guy that looks more like a football player than a lifter.

Dammmmm

There’s a guy on Instagram call kettlebellkarl who’s a monster. He’s pressed a 93 on both sides but I think even he might struggle to do 10 reps!

impressive weight to be shifting.

never touched a kettlebell but im guessing this would be slightly easier than a dumbell press?

I wonder why kettlebells havent been taken up much in strongman. they would seem to fit the profile of sm kit pretty well - big bit of metal to be put overhead. think I remember them being used for a throwing event? but not overhead.

Easier in some ways, harder in others. Huge amount of force put on the elbow at that weight. Try lying down and pressing a heavy kettlebell with both hands then holding it with just one. I’ve done it with a 58 but the 70 would dislocated my elbow for sure.

KB does have the old fashioned strongman (maybe more circus) image down to a tee in my opinion.

But, I feel KB training is as much skill as it is strength. Brute forcing KBs is restrictive.
I suspect watching the likes of Shaw and Kieliskowski struggle with weights that other people on YouTube can do would have dimishing viewership.
Not dissimilar to getting SM to attempt oli lifts.
Or am I overthinking it?

nah its a fair point. looking at the body position I can imagine some of the 'less flexible' guys ripping their shoulder out of the socket doing it.

I would bet that the more technical guys like novikov would probably be pretty good with some practice tho.

They're using 50kg calibrated plates for the big boys. Never seen them before.

What a load of bo***cks. Yes 505kg is a lot but it was much higher than other squats which were failed for depth.

Ok, so I watched it again and have decided I was wrong it was not as bad as I thought. (no I have not had death threats)

I was however surprised to learn that a head refs job does not include judging depth.

Thomas Davis did 317.5kg on his second bench. It was fast.

Haack has gone 337.5kg in squat, 262.5kg in bench.

If he gets 400kg in the deadlift, then he will total 1,000kg @ 90kg bodyweight.
